The bike is then wheeled into place so that the front wheel goes into the FollowMe frame, touches the stop and the spindle extensions lock into place.

When you don’t have a bike attached, the FollowMe folds up tightly behind the rear wheel of your bike, and is kept off the ground by a hanging strap that loops over the seat rails and uses a carabiner to securely attach the FollowMe.

I would say however that it helps to be quite a strong and confident cyclist – and to have a child who is willing to add some leg power. Now this is a good thing in a number of ways because if you hit a bump or pothole (apparently they are out there) in a corner it can be unsettling and put you off line. With a unique and stable coupling mechanism, the FollowMe tandem can quickly connect an adult bike to a kid’s bike.

This is the bolt that connections the main part of the FollowMe Tandem with the extendable bar that attaches to the down tube of the child’s bike. My 6 year old isn't feeling the whole bike thing, but my 2 year old is well into it, so will be using the followme when he's a bit bigger. In use the FollowMe feels very secure: the child bike is held upright with the adult bike, without the tendency to lean as I’ve often seen with tow-bar alternatives. For trips without children, the complete FollowMe hitch is removed from the towing bike in an instant. The package doesn't have quick release nuts for the children's bike (Woom, Superlight, Prevelo, Early Rider, etc.But now the bigger one is on her own 12-inch wheeled bike and there's a new little one who will be in the weeride at some point, and the FollowMe seems like the most "elegant" way to get everyone on-board. I have to give them credit for being the only importer of the FollowMe Tandem Coupling into the US (if you know of another one, please let everyone know! Such is the feeling of quality, initial impressions would suggest that it has been designed and built to cope with the rigours of children and stand the test of time. While on the Trans Pennine Trail, my other half and eldest stopped, complaining that the FollowMe Tandem had started touching the floor. it hardly feels like you have them behind you – when they wobble it hardly impacts you – and for a general cyclist it just doesn’t feel like you have a child attached.

So, I usually put the pannier on the front rack even when I don't have my son in his rear-rack seat. This gives him a chance to ride solo on safer sections of the route, but also to use his bike at our destinations – this was very important to us: previously his balance bike often travelled with us strapped to the parcel rack.

If you haven’t towed anything before it would be worth spending some time getting used to braking and turning with the child’s bike behind you.Fahre mit meinem 3,5 Jahre alten Sohn jetzt Touren > 1 Stunde ohne Probleme, dafür mit jeder Menge Spaß. Though there’s a couple of issues I’ve had with it that I think are fundamental flaws and have made me look for alternatives.
