Description

Edinburgh Medics, a Res Medica supplement courtesy of the Royal Medical Society, July 2005 [Macleod's] has lists scattered through the text in little boxes titled "Examination Sequence". It should be of value to: medical students training to be effective doctors; established doctors studying for postgraduate examinations including MRCP (UK) PACES; general practitioners wishing to update their skills in all aspects of clinical examination; and, nurse practitioners both in primary and secondary care involved in patient assessment.

Fifty years since it was first published and now fully revised, Macleod’s remains the textbook of choice for medical students, junior doctors, nurses and allied health practitioners who understand that excellence in clinical examination is integral to good practice. Smart study tools such as note sharing and subscription, review mode, and Microsoft OneNote integration. I'm not a Doctor, I'm a software developer but I read all medical books jus for interest incl - Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, MicroBiology, Pathology, Parasitology, Community Medicine, Gyn Obs, Surgery, Medicine, ENT, Optho.NOTE: This seller does not send you that classic print of book as shown the images of book in display section. The first part of the book addresses the general principles of good interaction with patients, from the basics of taking a history and examining, to the use of pattern recognition to identify spot diagnoses. Five star I gave because the information contained in book is simply sublime in terms of practical approach. You will need this if you are ever going to learn how to percuss someone's lungs, listen for their heart sounds, and then feel like a proper doctor by asking them to say "Ahh" as they stick their tongue out at you.

Information provided covers clinical examination and diagnostic characteristics for all ages, which is advantageous and relevant to all aspects of health care. The book starts with a general overview section on history taking and the general examination that provide the framework on which to hang the detail. The third section covers examination in specific situations and emphasises an integrated and structured approach to these patients. Nevertheless you will like it but the desire to obtain classic print, printed in great Britain remains unfulfilled.Integrated with the online text are clinical examination videos of trained professionals performing many of the examination routines described in the book with a new accompanying commentary by the Editor, Professor Colin Robertson Two new videos show how the Glasgow Coma Scale should be performed in clinical situations, demonstrating the correct techniques and also common pitfalls in using the GCS. Highly Commended' in the 2006 and 2010 BMA Medical Book Competitions, this Thirteenth Edition contains over 500 clinical photographs and diagrams to illustrate the text, with new topics added to make the book even more comprehensive. We publish over 700 journals and 4,000 books and offer an extensive portfolio of online tools in education, practitioner reference and point of care. The final part covers preparation for assessments of clinical skills and the use of these skills in everyday practice.

Edited by Anna R Dover, PhD FRCP(Ed), Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine, Edinburgh Centre for Endocrinology and Diabetes, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh; Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer, University of Edinburgh, UK; J. Formulation of a differential diagnosis from the information gained is introduced, and the logical initial investigations are included for each system. Macleod’s Clinical Examination is enhanced with 32 supplementary videos demonstrating key clinical examination routines described in the book, many new and revised for this edition in line with latest guidance and best practice. It's just that it has too much information on certain departments and i would have liked summaries for what you need to do (e.I only discovered the gems contained within this book when my OSCE's were approaching as it had been collecting dust on the shelf and I was kicking myself that I hadn't read it earlier.

The structure of the text has been rationalised with careful use of boxes, tables and figures to set out the concepts for maximum clarity. Our books, ebooks, journals and digital products provide the latest information to help you learn and make the right decisions. P>Macleod’s Clinical Examination is enhanced with 32 supplementary videos demonstrating key clinical examination routines described in the book, many new and revised for this edition in line with latest guidance and best practice. It takes you through each system in a methodical manner and not so in depth that it becomes mind boggling.
