About this deal

Booklist (starred review): "Amazing Disgrace is written as if Samper is chatting with the reader over a bottle of prosecco, and it offers endless (often laugh-out-loud) musings from the scatological to the sartorial.

But most of all, I loved the brutal honesty with which she took mental health conversations head on, and how she (not without humor) normalized emotions we often blame ourselves for feeling, especially as women. Despite some of the serious discussions surrounding rape and mental health, the humour and outrageousness of Grace's personality shines through and I read so many parts out to my boyfriend as I laughed out loud. p. 23) and then goes onto highlight every instance of this disgraced PM’s attempts to derail her childhood. Access Codes: Unless the book is described as "New," please assume that the book does *not* have an access code.Grace explores some excruciating topics through her own experiences, however there are stark contrasts to those I have read already. This woman is unashamedly herself from the outset: sex-positive, political, intelligent, hilarious and surprisingly very vulnerable, opening up about the kind of experiences we all have as young women, but very often fail to articulate.

And why are we still pandering, sacrificing our own pleasure and sanity in the process, to keep these shame police happy in 2021?The Seattle Times: "The vainglorious Gerald is a wonderfully cranky narrator and the book's satirical-outrage factor sometimes reaches Borat-like heights. They’ll discuss having sex with awful people, wanking, mental health, coping strategies, regrets, revelations. She’s very funny and very honest and it’s also really interesting reading about what it was like growing up as Alistair Campbell’s daughter during the Blair years. She’s in her own limelight, talking about really difficult stuff, making the world her stage and being very brave in doing so. the real driving force behind this book is the power of friendship, particularly with women and LGBTQ+ people, which was beautifully articulated.

Katherine Ryan 'Grace has written such a funny and interesting book, partly because she has a unique perspective of the world, but mostly because of her own brilliant mind.Set both in Tuscany and in the trendy haunts of London, this is the hilarious sequel to Cooking with Fernet Branca. I love her ability to talk about how messy anxiety and depression can be, and how utterly normal it is to consider medication for such ailments. It went over many things: sexual health/liberation, politics, body image, assault, mental health – the list goes on.

She isn’t living in the shadows, adhering to the strict protocol of appearing dignified and poised to perfection 24/7. This week, Grace talks to Rozanna Purcell about shame around bodies in the modelling industry, and how a bad breakup might be the best thing for you. Robert Christgau wrote: "Of course it's not the Beatles or Big Star—merely emulated, the formal ideas don't sustain their excitement. Campbell is (very) conscious of her privilege, though growing up in the eye of this storm clearly affected her. What I loved about this book is that it 100% Grace Campbell in all of her glory, she refuses to be pigeon holed into a box of how women are expected to behave and what they are supposed to talk about.
