If you are a novice, I would still suggest scanning through the manual, but if you are lazy, this article will be enough as well. This is my 3rd Donner pedal, (I also have a Yellow Fall delay, and a Jet Convolution flange) and I have been very happy with all of them.
What a nice sounding pedal - good rich sound, nice and jangly, and I love that it has a volume control - many times a chorus pedal gets lost, but just a little bump in volume makes all the difference. Not this one, it's not quite a sine wave but is very smooth with no awkward jerks or leaps between waves. The aluminum alloy casing ensures touring reliability, and the True Bypass circuitry gives you a transparent tone.
The former adjusts the output volume of the chorus, which allows you to balance the whole rig and create uniform pieces. Displayed values are prior to the Gearank Algorithm's adjustments it makes when evaluating the source.
I'm running it off a battery with a proper polarity wiring, that's my choice and there's a risk not using a dedicated power supply, but for this old school strummer it's perfect. This chorus pedal has an interesting range - it’s more narrow effect and veers on sounding like a flanger as the depth and rate are adjusted. No matter how hard we try to lean towards innovation and technological advancements, there are some treats from the past that we simply cannot forget. Only down side is that because they are small, you need to be careful about how you kick them on and off to not hit the controls. I was previously using an MXR Micro Chorus, which was OK, but had the singular failing of not having a "level" control. I used during the test phase the pedal especially with mono Synthesizers and could convince me here. If you are not into some crazy chorus sounds but simple and lush chorus sounds this is pedal for you. Sure it’s not comparable or so versatile as pedals from BOSS, Strymon TC Electronic, BOSS but for only 26€, you receive here a nice sounding chorus for your guitar or Synthesizer.
