About this deal

Note: it does not smell anything like Sauvage; I’m simply saying that for me Encre Noire A L’Extreme has similar versatility and captivating room presence to Sauvage. It’s the first thing I noticed when I finally managed to smell anything at all on my skin, and it’s there consistently; something in the musk and vetiver accords is distractingly perfume-counter-scented. The first hour you get nice projection then it goes close to the skin and later on kind of comes back for some reason, which is odd but cool too.

At the same time, I got a decant of a few popular fragrances that, based on everything I've heard and read, I had no doubt I would love. Just blind-bought this / opened the box and sprayed for the first time with great anxiety about the challenging / polarizing aspects described in reviews/videos/comments/impressions that filled my brain. The Lalique fragrances have a unique signature that combines creativity in its bottle design with a quest for exceptional quality within its fragrances. The vetiver and incense combination here is bright and very pleasing, so I don't understand all the comments claiming this is a distinctly "dark and gothic" scent. I spray myself and leave for work, by the time I get there (30mins) smell is non existent on clothes and body.

Top notes are Cypress, Elemi resin and Bergamot; middle notes are Haitian Vetiver, Vetiver, Incense and Orris; base notes are Benzoin, Sandalwood and Patchouli. Where Sycomore uses tobacco, ENALE throws in incense to further strengthen this accord and to give additional dimension and character to it. The feminine version does nothing for me though, it’s not at all a Noir, Encre Blanc would have been a better name, I think. Something in the drydown feels like basil to me, but it’s so incredibly faint I may well be imagining it. I’ve heard that letting Encre Noire sit and revisiting it in cooler weather can do it good, but I’ve tried both and had no luck.

honestly i can't understand if the encre noire a l'extreme i've got is the same some of the reviewers have. the added nuances make it feel even more dark, heavy, and masculine while still holding onto everything i liked about the original. A vibrant body combining the mysterious notes of vetyver Bourbon and vetyver Haïti, the enticing notes of Cashmere wood and musks. They mention that its a great scent, the blend of the fragrance is definitely right and that its just lovely.
