About this deal

As of 2013, there is still only really one standout Blu-Ray release; the 2011 US Lionsgate Evil Dead II 1. The matted widescreen and open matte transfers on the 2000 R1 US Anchor Bay Evil Dead II DVD are worth mentioning. Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods.

The shot of Linda screaming around the 36 minute mark is still flipped so she's facing right not left. Later instalments were slightly less horrific and more comedic, as the franchise attempted perhaps to gain a wider audience from its cult beginnings. The standard retail DVD transfer used the world over seems to have been zoomed in by around 5%, meaning the Blu-Ray version has more visual information on each side of the frame. From rave reviews and standing ovations in New York, Montreal and now Toronto, join us for Evil Dead, The Musical. Unbeknownst to them, the building is a hotbed of demonic activity, and when Emily unwittingly performs a forbidden ritual, she unleashes a malevolent force that infects the entire structure. The first is that while 4K has four times the pixel resolution of Blu-Ray, there seems to be no additional detail here over the previous 2010 US Anchor Bay Limited Edition Blu-Ray version. But it's worth the trouble, because the bonus disc includes some really great stuff, many of which was brand new for this release.

If you intend on using the disc regularly, you might want to keep it in a separate DVD or jewel CD case instead, as sliding it in and out of the slipcase will build up scratches over time, no matter how careful you are.I have the movie in his FULLY UNALTERED version, both formats ( 16/9 and 4:3 ) and witch his ORIGINAL COLORS !

It has a host of special bonus features (see below) including interviews, rare behind the scene footage and commentary by Sam Raimi. The Incredibly Strange Film Show As Jonathon Ross' fame and fortune have increased over the years, his ability to afford a hairdresser seems to have decreased. And the blu was so cheap, too; it was like a budget release except really a top shelf, first class special edition. When released around the world on home video, laserdiscs and early DVD, it was almost exclusively fullscreen. Bruce Campbell: Geek or God The same contributors as before consider the importance of Bruce Campbell to the franchise, in this short featurette. To my knowledge, they haven't released another version since then--unless you count releases of the same disc with multiple covers as a new version. Sam talks us through the process of making the first film, and most importantly raising the finance for it.

I know "better grain" isn't a big selling point, but it's a quick way to verify a higher quality image. It will be one long night for the lone survivor whose only way to stay alive is to destroy his once-friends by dismemberment before they take him too. Two things of note; The Evil Dead disc in the 2005 R2 UK Anchor Bay 'Box Of The Banned' collection is identical to the bonus fourth disc here, and in both 'The Incredibly Strange Film Show' has been edited to remove all Super-8 shorts clips, along with some other material such as The Three Stooges, running at 34m 9s, down from an uncut running time of 37m 38s.
