About this deal

We tested our Henry in a family home during various stages of renovation. From vacuuming-up flour and sugar, to accidentally broken glass and small chunks of rubble left over from an internal wall removal, we found that this canister vacuum cleaner was a really valuable addition to the home. We also learnt that the long, 2.5 meter hose could attach to either the crevice, dusting or brush and mattress tool, and reach up into the higher areas and / or get into some awkward spots. For hard floors, there’s an additional tool, the Fluffy Optic head, which uses a green laser to highlight dust. It works brilliantly, making it easy to see where you have and haven’t cleaned. Most cordless vacuum cleaners have multiple modes, but the Hoover HF910P has just two. The first is a standard power mode, which runs at 111AW. That’s a useful amount of power; most cordless cleaners have a lower ‘Eco’ power setting that increases battery life but isn’t much practical use. On maximum power, this cleaner runs at 203AW.

Factor in the anti-tangle floor head and sensible price, and you’ve got a real winner, particularly for anyone who’s cursed their previous cordless vacuum cleaner for not being able to stand by itself. Ease of use: Looked at the assembly needed, ease and clarity of instructions, any storage features and, where relevant, the battery charge time. Aspirato utilize advanced aerodynamic systems and powerful motors, which enable them to deeply clean different types of surfaces, such as carpets and hard floors. There's no doubt about it, vacuum cleaners are an essential household appliance. And finding a good one will make it easier to keep your home looking its best. It comes with an Anti-Hair Wrap brushbar which is mega useful for households with long and short haired residents, and the flexible wand puts vacuuming the floor under the couch / sofa within reach. The only thing we found that the floorhead didn't do so well is to get into narrow spaces, but there's the crevice and multi-surface tools for that.

As its name suggests, the crevice tool is designed to get into tight gaps that other attachments would struggle with. With its long, slender shape, it's ideal for cleaning right into corners, along the edge of the flooring, around radiators and even between sofa cushions. We love the position of the controls, too. For this model, they’ve been relocated from the cleaner’s body to the handle, just where our thumb goes. Toggling power and changing mode has never been so easy. A smaller body means that there’s only a 0.35-litre bin, although that should last for a standard clean. We found that automatic mode gave us around 25-minutes of cleaning time. Given the high levels of suction available (it tops out at plug-in level of power at 204AW in our tests), and the quality of the floor heads, those 25-minutes are enough to clean a small house or average-sized flat in one go.

Some of the best vacuum cleaners are able to sense the floor type and adjust their power accordingly. This saves on energy usage and means the vacuum will automatically use the optimum power. Although the vacuum can be used without attachments, Shark provides two additional tools in the box: a crevice tool with a flip-down brush for dusting, and an upholstery tool for cleaning soft furnishings. There’s no motorised pet tool, however. The small 0.1-litre bin doesn’t sound particularly big, but it’s actually roomy enough for the types of jobs for which the WV270UK is built. However, the biggest draw is convenience – a cordless vacuum cleaner allows you to clean little and often rather than doing one weekly deep clean, and to easily spot-clean dust or spillages without the faff of dust bags and cables.Shark has aspirations to be the new Dyson, and it has launched a series of premium cordless vacuums over the past few years. We test all our cordless vacuum cleaners in the same way, so we can compare the performance of a new model with every vacuum we’ve reviewed in the past. With a cordless unit, this starts with a battery rundown test, to see how long the battery lasts at each of its power settings on short-pile carpet with the floor head attached. Then we measure the suction (in kPa) and the air flow. Weighing just 3.08kg, this is actually one of the lightest cordless vacuum cleaners, so easy to use even for long periods.

Swap it out for the hard floor cleaning attachment and you get similarly impressive results for a longer run time. Actually the range of attachments was one of the things I like the most. Mine came with hard and soft motorised heads for carpet and hard floors, a Pet Pro motorised head with rubber bristles, which really worked, and various crevice and brush tools. With long, soft bristles, the dusting brush is a whizz at whisking away debris from window sills, lampshades, blinds, skirting boards and other awkward surfaces. It's also ideal for more delicate cleaning tasks, such as dusting furniture, the top of books or easily scratched objects. According to an research from Germany, vacuum cleaners with too little suction power and poor filtration systems are actually the most common cause of children and adults developing allergies related to dust, e.g. asthma. Therefore, the filter system of the vacuum cleaner is critical. It has two functions: to protect the motor and to ensure that the exhaust air is clean. The difference between a good and a bad vacuum cleaner is not only whether you get for your money, but also how much time and energy you need to spend on vacuuming.Image credit: TechRadar) Frequently asked questions about vacuum cleaners Is Shark better than Dyson? During testing, our Ecommerce Editor Molly found this vacuum to be a super reliable choice. The design was endearing and impressive and will speak to fans of the usual happy-faced Henry vacs that we all know and love. Standout features included just how easy this was vacuum to use, with a two-button control panel, and LED lights that help with cleaning in the evenings. If you love Henry but are a little apprehensive to make the move to a cordless model, this vacuum makes a great place to start. In addition, it is very light in weight, with a dust cup capacity of 1.2 litres, it is easy to get the whole house or apartment clean in a short time. Make sure the brush on the head is free from hairs and threads. If it becomes jammed, cut – don’t pull – any threads that prevent it from rotating. Be careful to avoid cutting the bristles. This isn’t exactly groundbreaking but can be a very useful feature to have on a cordless appliance. Some vacuums, including the Dyson V15 Detect, will handily count down your remaining battery time in minutes and seconds.
