About this deal

The first part of the first volume follow the journey of Kirin. He’s been sent to the city to find a viable « net gene » among the human population, He is seemingly one of the only persons owning a very powerful graviton gun, and is apparently human, but able to withstand substantial falls and abuse. Wut? Not bad, as finales go, but what do I do with that ending? What does that mean? The sleeper has awakened?

This set-up reminds me of the Matrix a little. Hiding away from and being chased by creatures that are oddly organic, but with mechanical components. Mentioning of a Net. It‘s all very mysterious. Now this I liked A LOT! Finally an issue with a proper plot! Build-up, action, an actual storyline I could relate to... Silicon life has also invaded the cylinder with the united task of killing all humans, thus preventing anyone with the net terminal gene from restoring the Netsphere to what it once was. It's currently unknown what exactly the connection is between silicon life and the Netsphere except that they might be somehow related to Safeguards. Inside the Megastructure • Multiple Dispersion Molecule Movement • Provisional Connection Certification • Raid • Urge • Level 9 • Far-OffTsutomu Nihei is using an interesting approach, where he’s telling the story mainly through the artwork. Kyrii encounters several different factions (a lot of them not human) and subsequently a lot of trouble on the way up. But barely anyone seems to know much about their own history or that of the other occupants. As far as I can see, the machines have taken over and being one of the remaining humans gets you in big trouble.

So in the end, Nihei's insistence on continually introducing new plot ideas and concepts and having almost incessant action rather than resolving anything led me to feel the story was at its best, most engrossing, most atmospheric, most intelligible and--in many ways--most complete when I had only read the first book, possibly the first two, rather than all six, which expanded, complicated, and repeated the experience of the first two less enjoyably and less clearly, again and again. There is a motif of simplicity that occurs throughout the series, which some will like and some may not. Whether it's the dialogue, character growth, plot, or even art (simplistic often in concept but not in technique) everything is kept very minimalistic with the reader needing to read hard between the lines (or panels?) to get what is going on and even then if you are often confused by what has happened, you are not alone. ) is a spin-off series of Blame!. Set in the same "City" as Blame!, it is a parody and comedy about various characters in the main Blame! story in a traditional Japanese school setting. Various elements in the main Blame! story are being parodied, including the relationship between Killy and Cibo, and Dhomochevsky and Iko. It was irregularly published in Afternoon. A compilation volume, titled Blame Academy! and So On was published by Kodansha on September 19, 2008. [36] Blame!2 [ edit ] Beveridge, Chris (May 3, 2005). "Blame! (also w/T-shirt)". Mania. Archived from the original on March 9, 2014 . Retrieved February 17, 2013. I guess I've read too many similar stories to this one that took a concept like this and did it one better. If the sequel goes up on Netgalley, I may apply for that to see if this story is worth pursuing, but the cyberpunk constructs and blood splatter seem to be this story's two main claims to fame, and I'm not particularly into either one of those things, so it might just be a case of it's-me-not-you.
