About this deal

I was once asked by a group of young ladies to give my opinion on some perfumes. Which one was the most appealing to men….which one had the potential to drive a bloke crazy with desire once smelled….etc He warned, however, never to mix Castrol R40 with mineral or synthetic oils or to leave the oil for long periods of time if the engine is not being used. It can be used in racing engines, in gearboxes, as a two-stroke mix, even added to normal four-stroke engines and is made from the crushed seeds of the castor plant – a plant largely native to Africa and India. Castrol Classic team Paul Williams and Giovanni Schule told The Corner in a media release: “We’ve had huge demand from suppliers and end-users to make this product available not only because of its multiple uses but also because of its great aroma.

In 2019, Castrol extended their sponsorship activities by re-forming a partnership with Jaguar, this time supporting them in Formula E [16] and also NASCAR Cup Series giants Roush Fenway Racing- Ford since 2020 season.

CASTROL 2 STROKE PRODUCT RANGE

Thinking of smells that I do find attractive and evocative I advised them to put a few dabs of castrol R behind their ears and then see the effect it would have on the male population. Of course, I also advised them that if they wanted to attract a member ( or ex-member) of the armed forces then the smell of chordite would also get the guys, or gals, queueing up to find out what was going down. Mixing castor and mineral oil therefore seemed a good idea in the early 1900s, but the two are not readily miscible. What Wakefield researchers discovered was that a surprisingly small proportion of castor oil — as little as 0.7 per cent — was sufficient to confer its high film strength on the mix, and thus Wakefield Motor Oil (Castrol Brand) was born. In fact, five variants were introduced initially for different applications, Castrol R being the flagship product intended for aero and racing engines. Wakefield & Co’s core business was — and in the immediate future, would remain — lubricants for the railways and industrial customers, but it was Castrol Brand that was to carry the company name to the four corners of the globe.

It is curious that we understand much better than its inventors the way Castrol R works, yet take it for granted. Keith Howard redresses that balance When it’s time for an oil change, knowing the best engine oil to use is essential. The answer to that question gets more complex every day. The latest engines are getting smaller and more powerful all the time, and manufacturers are specifying complex full synthetic motor oils to cope with higher engine pressures and meet fuel efficiency targets. Some steam locomotives were fitted with one or more Wakefield mechanical lubricators. These were normally mounted on the locomotive footplate alomgside the boiler, in a position where a mechanical linkage could be made with some point on the locomotive's valve gear or another moving part. The reciprocation of this caused a lever on the lubricator to oscillate, and this was converted to a small rotary movement by a ratchet. The gradual rotation caused a small amount of lubricating oil to be fed into pipes leading to the cylinders, valves and other parts. The amount of oil fed was in proportion to the distance travelled by the locomotive in either direction.
