As for the earbuds themselves, they have a low profile design to them. This means they’re thin enough that they won’t jut out too much from your ears. They have the same matte texture as the charging case, and they’re extremely light (4.8g each). That being said, they don’t feel cheap at all.
I’ve worn TWS earbuds that made me feel like I wasn’t wearing them at all. But the Edifier X3’s edges are more prononuced than other curved edge earbuds. Because of that, the edges would rest on my ears and after a while, it does get a little uncomfortable. That means that the audio synchronizes perfectly with video on both iPhone and Android phones, including the challenging YouTube-app. There is some delay in sound effects when you're playing games, but this is common for almost all wireless earphones. You can be understood by the person you are calling. Let's put that first. Although not in detail, the words can be distinguished for your conversation partner. The Edifier X3 TWS sounds the best when listening to acoustic and pop. It can be used to listen to EDM and hip-hop, but you might want to dial down the volume when you do.The earbuds themselves have a lightweight plastic build. It has a matte finish, which helps to prevent scratches and pesky fingerprint stains.
Not often have we seen earplugs that seal so well in your ear. The passive noise canceling of this Edifier X3 is very good. But that also means that you hear your own voice less well. And that is inconvenient when calling. Headphones deliver powerful bass, are more accurate to provide more detail, and excel in soothing genres like acoustic and classical. This is done via AAC HD audio codec to deliver the best stereo HIFI of all music styles in this price range. Noise Cancelation Technology The charging case is equally nondescript with the same material choice and colour as the Edifier X3 buds themselves. With a small magnet keeping the charging case together, there is only a micro-USB charging port, and a small ‘Edifier’ logo adorning the caddy. There are no LED notifications anywhere, only on the buds themselves. But your voice becomes very shrill. The low tones are cut off with this microphone. Just listen to this fragment that we recorded with the Edifier X3: The only weak point in the build I could find was the lid! Make sure you don’t over extend the opening. It feels as if only a little force could damage the closure mechanism.As often with budget earplugs, these earplugs fail with some wind. So on the bike you hope you don't get a call. Admittedly, there are very few earplugs that pass that test well.
The ear tips of the Edifier X3 are better than the ear tips of, for example, QCY. But not as good as foam ear tips. These are earpieces (attachments) made of foam material and they slowly expand in your ear.Vocals make the most outspoken part of the X3's sound signature. They sound forward, no matter if it's darker male voices or the highest-pitched (female) voices. Singers sound clear - sometimes even a bit too much. Good thing is, it does come with touch gestures so you don’t need to fumble with your phone for media controls. That being said, the touch gestures are missing controls for volume level, but you’re already getting most of the controls you’d want. In terms of accuracy, I have no complaints as each touch is registered accurate and immediate. You can watch videos or play online games on both iPhone and Android without noticeable audio delay, even in YouTube or Netflix app which is always a challenge on iPhone. However, it did well. The X3 isn't a bass-focused earphone. The sub-bass doesn't dive very deep, and there's no heavy bass slam. The bass provides a nice thump that can pulsate in your ears and delivers enough power for electronic pop, modern dance music, and hip-hop, but it doesn't force itself where it doesn't belong. The bass on the Edifier X3 isn't a dominator; it's a companion.
