Description

The ASICS Gel-Trabuco 10 G-TX uses a 3D design to stabilise the foot on the platform, alongside Duomax technology on the medial side to enhance support and stability. The fit is true to size length and width wise for me in a US9 as with all other Asics shoes. As mentioned the toe box is voluminous both in terms of width and across the top. Some may find this beneficial for longer distance runs / races. The toebox volume remains similar to that of the Trabuco 9, which fellow reviewer Mike found to be a standout feature.

Underfoot, Flytefoam technology combines with rearfoot gel to absorb, cushion, and provide excellent comfort even across uneven terrain. Asides from material, another major change to the upper is the toe bumper. The Trabuco 9 utilized an external toe number that was stitched on top of the cloud mesh. In the Trabuco 10, it has been redesigned to be sleeker and more integrated with the main upper through the use of overlays in varying densities, starting with it being dense and structured where the upper meets to midsole before reducing in density and increasing in pliability. These overlays are also used throughout the midfoot on both medial and lateral sides, offering sufficient structure there. Bryan: Notwithstanding my issue with the upper, the midsole and outsole work in sync to provide a balanced and cushioned ride. The flexibility afforded is appreciated on technical terrain. As mentioned, it does not ride like a 8mm drop shoe. Any distance runner knows that it's crucial to keep your feet stable while running, and DUOMAX™ system counteracts overpronation while adding essential firmness to the midsole and arch of the foot.The changes are mainly in the upper and fit. The air mesh of the Trabuco 9 was fragile and prone to tearing. The v10 has tighter mesh, which makes it more durable on the trail – but more permeable to water, too, which it tends to trap in its mesh.

Recommended for: multi-terrain trail runners with overpronation issues Asics GEL-Trabuco 10 review: Also consider Go faster in any weather with the new and improved men's GEL-TRABUCO™ 10 GTX trail running shoe. Designed to give you an energy boost over any distance, this shoe features FLYTEFOAM™ Lyte technology for high-energy return and weight reduction, adding bounce to your step and making you feel lighter as you run. The GEL-Trabuco 9 Gore-Tex is the most protective, most comfortable shoe in its class —with unrivalled support for your entire foot, carrying you effortlessly across uneven ground and providing outstanding traction on all terrains. The outsole is Asics’ own imaginatively named AsicsGrip which has the very popular 4mm depth lugs. It performs well on all surfaces and I was pleased with the grip on the uphills and downhills too. Some of the lugs are not very widely spaced so I did get a few little stones caught in them, this doesn’t tend to happen with a wider lug pattern, so this could be something for the Gel-Trabuco 11 perhaps. Asics GEL-Trabuco 10 review: Aesthetics

Bryan is a road and trail runner living in Melbourne, Australia. He is a consistent sub 1:25 half marathoner and is presently chasing a sub 3-hour marathon. He is 176cm/ 5'9" tall and weighs about 69kg / 143lbs. As a company Asics have also committed to fully recycled polyester and 100% renewable energy in their offices by 2030 and net-zero carbon emmissions by 2050. So the GEL-Trabuco 10 itself isn’t as human-status-quo-on-earth-friendly as we’d currently like but keep up the great work Asics, and we look forward to more recycled materials in more running shoes to come. Asics GEL-Trabuco 10 review: Verdict Bryan: The Trabuco 10 is an underrated, underexposed and under-the-radar all purpose trail workhorse. I personally found the toe-box to be the main let down of the shoe for me, although Mike in his review of the Trabuco 9 ( RTR Review ), where there is virtually no difference in terms of volume and fit, but a difference in toe bumper construction, found the toebox to offer a superior all-day experience. Trail runner Mubarak Sheikh, has been busy putting the ASICS Gel-Trabuco 10 Trail Running Shoesto the test;

I tested a size 7 in these shoes and I must admit they’re true to size and lightweight. They don’t feel too rigid and they offer such versatility in comparison to some of the other trail shoes I have. They’re really breathable even on a very hot day! Fit aside, I felt that the materials used are great for durability, but less so for performance. The upper is largely constructed from generic-ish mesh, which is water-absorbent. This seems to be a change to the cloud-mesh material that was used in the Trabuco 9. This is an issue when racing long distances in inclement conditions. Having raced in them in constant rain over a few hours, the added weight to the shoe was immense. Breathability is not an issue too, having tested them in 28 degrees C conditions (82.5 F). A standout feature of the upper is a little pouch situated at the top of the tongue that offers storage for the lace knot. This instills some confidence in preventing dust that may serve to loosen a tied lace, and guarantees no flopping around of laces. ASICS grip on the outsole provides improved traction in both dry and wet conditions so that no matter what the conditions are you can feel prepared to take on the any challenge. The same consistency also ensures the availability of Gore-Tex running shoes in their catalog. For example, a GTX version of the GT-2000 and Cumulus is always offered for sale, along with several others like the Gel-Pulse and Trabuco.There are few differences between the T10 and T9. As mentioned in the preamble, the Japanese brand had already made significant improvements to the 9th version. Therefore, the developments on version 10 are minor. So my feeling is that if you currently benefit from a shoe designed for overpronation and you’re looking to get into trail running, the Asics GEL-Trabuco 10 is a very exciting prospect for you. However, if you are already into trail running and not having any problems in that direction, they may be a tad on the stiff, heavier side for you. This is my first ever pair of ASICS shoes, so when they arrived I was very excited to test them out on the trails. I love the colour way, they felt very snug and I was eager get out the door and hit the trails. I put these to the test by running over 20KM as a first run which included both on/ off-road and they felt surprisingly very lightweight and cushiony in comparison to other branded shoes that I have worn in the past. The heel feels fine and comfortable but not especially cupped at this size, but it doesn’t move up and down upon running. The toe box is regular, so not narrow or actively squashing the little toe into its brothers and sisters, but not so roomy that you can splay them out in a totally natural barefoot style. The knitted upper is very forgiving too, so the toes do feel very comfortable in the main. Asics GEL-Trabuco 10 review: Upper and lacing
