A 50-inch TV ( wall-mounted or not) will look best from a distance of around 2.5 – 3.5 metres. Any closer and you risk the image looking pixelated, further away and you’ll miss the details. Don’t worry if this means you have to consider a more compact 32-inch TV or larger 65-inch screen option – we’ve rounded up the best of those for you elsewhere.

Colours looked accurate and natural, whether you’re watching nature documentaries or dramas. Although admittedly, the HDR brightness isn’t as bright as you’d get elsewhere so the contrast could be better. You'll only really see the impact of this when you're watching particularly dark movies or using it on a sunny day. There’s no adaptive brightness to automatically adjust the display settings according to the lighting conditions in the room. As such, you’ll get the best viewing experience from it on a dreary day or in the evening. If you're on a tighter budget, the Hisense U6/U6Koffers great value compared to similarly-priced models from other brands. Unlike the Hisense U7K and Hisense U8/U8K, you aren't getting the same high-end features and performance, but it's still quite decent. It uses the same quantum dot technology, which means it displays a wide range of colors and has remarkable pre-calibration accuracy, so you won't have to get it calibrated to get accurate colors. When it comes to picture modes, there are a few to choose from. Those being HDR Day, HDR Night, HDR Dynamic, HDR Sports or Auto. Choosing HDR Day does make it more visible in the sun but it also makes colours look a little over the top, while HDR Night dulls them out a little too much. Furthermore, in some ways, it's even better for gaming than the more expensive Hisense due to the U7K's faster overall response time. It still has extremely low input lag and a great selection of gaming features. Like its bigger sibling, this TV has two HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports, each capable of up to 4k @ 144Hz with full VRR support to minimize tearing in games. It's a great TV and a fantastic choice if you want the U8 but find it too much for your budget. Otherwise, it has features you don't normally find on TVs at this price range. It has VRR support, although over the narrow 48-60Hz range. It doesn't support HDR10+ like the more expensive models, but it does have Dolby Vision, which is more widespread. It doesn't support advanced DTS audio formats, but it does support DTS 5.1 over ARC. It has good response time and superbly low input lag, so it's a decent gaming TV overall. Ultimately, this is the best cheap TV on the market, and it's almost as good as the more expensive U6K.

The TCL Q6/Q650G QLED is a decent option in the budget price range, although the Hisense U6/U6K is a bit better overall due to its much better contrast. Still, the TCL is more interesting for gamers as it can do 1080p and 1440p @ 120Hz with resolution halving. If there are technical issues, the Hisense 50E77HQTUK QLED Gaming Series TV has a built-in troubleshooting feature to help users diagnose and fix problems. Warranty The Hisense 50E77HQTUK QLED Gaming Series TV offers a wide range of picture settings, allowing users to customize their viewing experience. These settings include options for adjusting brightness, contrast, color temperature, and more. Additionally, the TV has many pictures presets, such as Movie, Sports, and Gaming, optimized for different viewing scenarios. Sound Settings The TCL QM8/QM850G QLED is a very bright QLED TV, the brightest on this list. Unfortunately, it's quirky and buggy, has poor upscaling capabilities, and its color accuracy is just okay before being calibrated, so it's hard to recommend over competing models. Ultimately, the Hisense U8/U8K is a bit better overall for a similar price.
