Replacement Parts– The MUT has more replaceable parts than just about any other multi tool we’ve reviewed. Thankfully Leatherman planned ahead for this and offers a set including the wire cutters, carbon scraper, cutter hook, and disassembly punch all in one. We’ve seen it in the hand, but here is a little size comparison between an original PST, the MUT and the OHT. Due to its out-the-front pliers deployment, the OHT looks quite large, but its build is not as heavy. The PST is quite compact and closer in size to the average multi-tool. the bit storage on one side is honestly difficult on smaller bits, not too terribly hard to get them in... but out.... another story. You might find yourself chasing runaway bits. But you don't really need it right off hand if you keep extra bits separate. The OHT beats out the MUT with it’s slide out pliers but the MUT does provide more usefulness when working with combat rifles.
The story behind Leatherman
An important thing to note here is the position of my little finger, and how it lines up with the cutter notch next to the hammer. If your finger starts to slip into the cutter notch, you certainly can get cut by it. If it were the other way round this would not be the case, as your palm could not get deep enough into the cutter notch. Just beware your finger doesn’t slip in under heavy use or when hammering.
