All these medium-throughput screening technologies had to be developed to enable detection of improved muteins with superior catalytic properties with a throughput of >1000 mutants/day. One key target during development of screening platforms is to liberate cytochrome P450 enzymes from the need of costly coenzymes (NADPH) and to evolve self-sufficient BVMOs. New screening assays and technologies will be used for screening enzyme mutant libraries, including libraries that had been prepared within the project, e.g. SeSaM-based mutein libraries.
