It’s a testament to just how impressive the Tizen smart TV interface is that Samsung only needs to fiddle about with the minutiae of its performance to maintain its position as one of the very best around. Other brands (they know who they are) have had to make giant strides to deliver anything as logical, straightforward and user-friendly as the interface fitted to the Samsung QN85A. It’s a paradigm of good sense. The QE65QN95A’s sound doesn’t have as much power, projection and bass impact as Samsung’s premium TVs from 2020 (which featured arrays of open drivers on their rears – as the brand’s 2021 8K TVs also will). It’s more than merely functional, though, and also holds its own/plays surprisingly nicely with Samsung soundbars using the brand’s Q-Symphony feature, which combines sound from the TV’s speakers with sound from the soundbar to generate a larger sound stage. You should buy a Samsung QE65QN95A if…

While the Standard mode is probably the preset that shows off most effectively what Samsung’s new TV is capable of, there are Movie and Filmmaker Modes too that provide more “accurate” images. This all contributes to a much more natural and immersive picture experience. One, moreover, that delivers levels of local contrast intensity that see dark scenes feeling as intense as bright ones in a way that you’d never expect to see from LCD technology. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Every epic moment comes to life with super-fine detail and brilliantly intense contrast. Discover the brilliant processor that powers our best 4K picture and next-level AI sound. A super slim TV design that’s gorgeous to look at, from all sides. Cutting-edge technology precisely controls Samsung’s Quantum Mini LEDs for super-fine detail, epic contrast and a brilliantly intense picture.

You’re after a TV with a bright HDR performance: With Mini LED technology onboard, the QN95A is capable of hitting some searing peak brightness, as well as delivering contrast rich images Under the TV’s skin is a new version of Samsung Quantum Processor, called the Neo Quantum Processor 4K. The big new feature here is referred to as Ultra Precision Light Driving, which involves more precise dimming and a local power distribution feature that sends power to the brightest areas of the picture and away from the darker parts. It also works in conjunction with a sensor integrated into the TV's frame to adjust brightness and contrast in response to ambient lighting conditions. There’s a new level of ‘deep learning’ applied to contrast enhancement, too. To cap it all off, the design of this QE65QN95AATXXUQLED TV is second to none, with its super thin bezel and stunning looks. Contrast, too, remains impressive for the most part in Game mode. Having said that, overall it isn’t as impressive as it is with video sources – presumably because the Game picture mode has to rein in the Mini-LED local dimming controls to hit its ultra-low levels of input lag. Bixby, Alexa and Google Assistant are all built into your Samsung Smart TV. Discover an optimal entertainment experience and advanced voice control in your connected smart home. Changing the volume, source, channel and more is as easy as asking. This TV also works with Smart Things devices (compatible phone and app required. Exact functionality may change at any time and be withdrawn from the product without notice).Switch to 1917 and the vibrancy is tempered by a slightly unexpected degree of naturalism. Some TVs we’ve reviewed have, in their quest for vibrancy, pushed the green fields at the film’s start from verdant to lurid, but the QN95A doesn’t fall into this trap and the film is delivered with both punch and poise. The same effortless balance is applied in regards to detail and sharpness, too. Where some TVs, including previous Samsung models, can over-sharpen edges and details, giving everything an artificially etched look, the QN95A ensures that everything is crisp and clearly defined without any of that exaggeration. The detail is all there, but it isn’t rammed down your throat, and that’s the way it should be. The 55-inch Samsung QN85A reviewed here—along with the 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch models that are also available—is on sale now. After some initial confusion around release dates, specs and prices, Samsung’s range of TVs for 2021 has transpired to be nothing less than epic. And this, the flagship QN95A Neo QLED, is being billed by Samsung as the pinnacle of its 4K achievements to date. Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output

Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output Occasionally, a particularly rich red might look slightly pink, or a gold or brass tone might look a bit yellow when using the otherwise engaging default Standard picture mode. For the most part, the combination of brightness and richness is explosively gorgeous, even with the most aggressive HDR/wide colour content. That said, the QN95A’s speakers struggle with the super-deep bass at the start of chapter 2 of Blade Runner 2049, with its woofers flapping uncomfortably. This is far from the only TV to have problems here – LG’s CX OLEDs suffer at least as badly – but it’s a shame all the same. Still, we would always recommend partnering a TV as impressive as this with a dedicated sound system, and this flaw only reinforces that message. This isn’t the first time Samsung has used an external One Connect box with its premium TVs. However, the unit that ships with the QE65QN95A is much slimmer than previous versions, making it easier to hide away. Finally, there are two notable features that the Samsung QE65QN95A doesn’t have: support for Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos. The former isn’t a surprise given Samsung’s preference when it comes to active HDR formats for its own rival HDR10+ system. It’s still missed, though, given its relatively widespread adoption in the content world, and its upcoming appearance on the Xbox Series X games console. If you want to connect your TV to a blu-ray player, games console, soundbar or soundbase then you'll need an HDMI cable.
