I'll be honest, some might find the book a bit preachy but this is a topic that needs to be discussed. As a YA book geared for teens I think it does a wonderful job of sending out the right message about life after sexual violence. It's a difficult process, an ongoing battle and one that can be wrought with ups and downs. Sexual violence is a traumatic experience and many people end up with trauma and PTSD symptoms. They have to learn to rebuild their sense of control to be able to move on from their traumatic experience over time. After two hours I leave. It is time for her emptiness and peace. Derek was obviously the character on a journey from complicit to champion. The dialogue around his education seemed more like the writer attempting to educate readers poorly disguised as plots. Family and friendship is at its heart. The change between past and present means you truly understand the relationship between Theo, George and Leah. Everyone should have a family who loves you no matter what and everyone should have friends like these. I just fell in love with them all. I felt so connected to them.Theo’s wealthy family have mysteriously pulled him out of boarding school and he’s now enrolled at the local state school with Leah and George. When their worlds collide that summer, the three teenagers form a bond they believe will be unbreakable. But life doesn’t always go to plan... I balance my laptop on my knee and type in the details for the Alzheimer’s Society, and that’s when I see the words: Be Involved. Ally is the showrunner of a successful, but waning, reality TV series called Dessert Island. After filming the season's final episode, she is informed that the show will be cancelled.
