About this deal

A lower powered sensitive mode can be desirable as it’s extra gentle on the teeth and gums, but you don’t need this unless you are suffering from sensitive teeth or gums. Minimal and clean design looks good and makes the brush easy to clean The 2 minute timer and pacer encourage even brushing of your teeth Clinical studies such as this onesuggest a marked difference in the clean offered by the oscillating rotating brush compared to the sonic option. There are several ProtectiveClean brushes, but all have similar specifications. Unlike the DiamondClean, toothbrushes in the ProtectiveClean range have a pressure sensor, and will warn you if you're applying too much force when you brush. This is great for anyone who tends to be a bit heavy-handed, and has been warned that they're at risk of damaging their enamel.

Whilst technically these have been designed with slightly different goals in mind, they all do a good job of cleaning the teeth and removing plaque. There's also a pressure sensor to warn you if you're pressing too hard with the brush, plus three brushing intensity levels and four modes. Philips One Electric Toothbrush: The best electric travel toothbrush Deciding which brand of electric toothbrush is right for you has likely been more confusing and complicated than you originally thought. Our hands-on testing is not scientific and we don’t verify the claims Sonicare makes. But, we can speak firsthand when we say the difference is noticeable, particularly when used side by side. I don’t have the data to specify exactly, but, in my opinion, the low setting of the 4100 feels more like the high setting on the 1100, 2100 and 3100. It isn’t very firm, great if you suffer from arthritis and painful joints. The optional travel case provides protection when on the go This difference isn’t a reason to avoid the 3100, but something to be aware of. It still does a perfectly good job of cleaning your teeth.

Sonicare brushes use high frequency vibrations for cleaning, which some prefer, but the performance is similar. Ultimately Oral-B takes the edge for its balance of proven cleaning technology, important features, and reasonable prices. But, the 4000 Series motor has been tuned so that the ‘amplitude’ (the distance covered or the sweep angle of the bristles) is higher. Technical specifications Battery: Rechargeable Battery type: Lithium ION Operating time (full to empty): 14 days*****The reason behind this power difference primarily is the battery technology used. Sonicare have for a long time been using the more desirable lithium-ion batteries whereas Oral-B have only just begun using lithium and although improved from older standards have not quite perfected it yet like Philips. Having thoroughly tested both of the ranges, I recommend Oral-B electric toothbrushes, specifically the Oral-B Pro 3 3500, as the best value and overall top choice. Oral-B does offer a travel case, that allows you to charge the brush inside. However, you need to take a proprietory travel adapter, not the internationally accepted USB power cable.
