Description

The story begins with James sitting in his science class. He doesn’t like school very much, and he feels bored with the material. There is a girl that everyone likes named Samantha, who is a bit of a goody-two-shoes. James, however, knows a different side of Samantha, who teases him about his overweight mother. On this day, James cannot handle her taunting, and he snaps, pushing Samantha against a wall and injuring her. The teacher, Mrs. Voolt, yells at James, and he pushes her, too, in panic. Not knowing what to do, James runs from the classroom. He knows he will be in trouble with the school and with his mom, so instead of returning home, he goes to a park and hides within the playground. The Recruit by Robert Muchamore is exactly what people wouldn’t think. It opens up minds to what could be, but nobody knows. James is a teen that seems to get into trouble, but also seems brilliant in his way of doing good things. James has no idea to expect when he finds himself as a Cherub recruit, but he has no other options after his mother dies and no one else is there to take care of him. I love a comfort read as much as the next person, but I really enjoyed these books. This one introduces us to the main character, James, who has got a pretty grim life, with very few prospects. The only things he has that are entirely positive are his sister, and his intelligence. Both which will prove to be the things he really needs.

Listen, everybody, I really wanted to love this book, I did. A young adult novel about spies who belong to an organization that doesn't exist? YES PLEASE! This is my genre, you don't even understand. It's like the bag of tortilla chips I buy sometimes when I'm alone and feeling depressed after work and eat all of. Am I going to elaborate further? (No.) Robert Muchamore wins Bolton Children's Book Award". SLA. 4 July 2005. Archived from the original on 20 October 2007 . Retrieved 14 August 2014. The overall review. This, in my opinion, is a literature masterpiece. It is fun and addicting! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that does not mind books with swear words and people who love books with kid prodigies in it. The age rating. This is the part where I will give you an age recommendation and tell you my reasons. However, please note that this whole review is just my critical opinion that you might disagree fully on.I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel but it left out a few key things that happened just like movies sometimes do but overall it was good and it was a nice change from reading another novel. Imagine a world where terrorist organisations, drug barons and major criminals are brought to justice by children. In CHERUB this is a reality.

The kid was 11. Actually, except for like two other minor characters, everyone was under the age of 12-13. And if that isn't enough, they're way more worldly than preteens. They're cursing, drinking, smoking, fighting, partying, and overall way too mature in adult situations to be taken seriously as little kids. Fine", Kerry said. "But if i kill it, you're cutting all the guts out and cooking it". - i like it because its funny, AND the girl did so much better than him. BURN!!! The final mission was incredibly lame. The whole book spent time building up to these huge event that the main character would take part in. But, although the scenario unique, the author could have done A LOT more to make it more dangerous, more suspenseful, more incognito. The Recruit is the first novel in the CHERUB series, written by Robert Muchamore. It introduces most of the main characters, such as James Adams (formerly Choke), Lauren Adams (formerly Onions), Kyle Blueman, and Kerry Chang. It was released in the United Kingdom by Hodder Children's Books on 30 April 2004, and by Simon Pulse in the United States on 30 August 2005. Sakura Medal 2007 Winners". ASIJ. Archived from the original on 19 February 2012 . Retrieved 14 August 2014. Nothing in Muchamore’s writing really hindered besides the part where I couldn’t keep my face out of the book just because of the eye opening idea of teen agents. It makes any teen wonder what it would be like to be in that place; and who wouldn’t want to save the world from terrorists. CHERUB agents are aged between ten and seventeen. They live in the real world, slipping under adult radar and getting information that sends criminals and terrorists to jail.
