Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep. To be honest, I didn't believe the love story simply because Faye seemed to be so well conditioned by her father to do his bidding that I could not believe she really had a conscious choice in this relationship. It was the most unbalanced relationship of this series and it was disturbing to read about it. The way she also supported and cared for Dion warmed my freaking heart!! The way she comforted him during flights because of his fear of flying and when he had those nightmares and always reassured him of how much she actually loved him was so beautiful… made me love her even more!! I worked day and night, through weekends and holidays, to the point that I don't even know who I am anymore..."

The classic secretary-boss trope felt fresh under the pen of CM. She knows how to add little elements and great declarations to move along the plot.
While I very much enjoyed the story's premise, (there's a little mystery and a long-standing working relationship with two non-virginal successful adults), I think the way the characters talk to each other once they get into the schmexy phase gave me cringe vibes more than a few times. First I have to deal with f****n* Ben, and now this f***e* appears out of nowhere. Maybe I don't keep my wife busy enough, if she has time to attract all these f****n* fruit flies.' This might be my favorite book in the windsor series so far, it definitely held a more emotional weight for me than all the other books did. My favorite thing about catharina is that she writes these stories where you’re as apprehensive as the characters are in these engagements and as the story goes on you start to unravel that apprehensiveness with the characters.

His brothers beat his father in law to a pulp, like thugs, when Faye confesses the abuse she has been subjected to her entire life. I highly highly recommend this book and honestly it deserves a WAY higher average rating on goodreads! It was just THAT good to me!! More than a few times, I felt like Ariana Grande in that meme where she's scared of all the Victoria's Secret models on the runway because they're giants, because she's literally imp sized? They have been working together and known each other for seven years at the moment the book is settled, but they have no relationship other than the professional one. She's always cold towards him, just like he's towards her. They find each other attractive, yes, but they don't think of ever admitting, much less acting on it. At least, not until Luca sees Valentina close to someone else at an event they're attending together, and gets so jealous that his next actions lead them not to be on speaking (nor tolerating) terms for a long while—and for context of how bad this was, he tried to apologize at least a dozen times but I don't think anything could mend their relationship.
