Description

What sets Multi-IQ apart from other so-called multi-frequency systems is that it is true Simultaneous multi-frequency. What really sets the Vanquish 440 apart from other entry level metal detectors is the Multi-IQ technology. The Equinox 600 and 800 have the same Multi-IQ technology, but at a hugely increased price. The Simplex+ is a great model too, but only has a single frequency. Findings: Detailed findings are as shown on the test data sheet with comments and conclusions directly below.

A: Iron bias adjusts the likelihood of the metal detector to identify a target as iron if it has both ferrous and non-ferrous signals. Ferrous targets produce a combination of ferrous and non-ferrous responses, with large targets giving a strong non-ferrous response. A ferrous target near a non-ferrous target can produce similar responses. The 440 features Multi-IQ technology (more on this in the next section), a waterproof V10 search coil, audio control, and pinpoint mode. This simple to use, lightweight, compact metal detector works well in all terrains and for all metals. This is an all-purpose machine with great features, a compact design, and simple functionality at a fantastic price. While designed with beginner metal detectorists in mind, the Vanquish 440 has enough features to make even an intermediate detectorist happy. I found the stability at the beach to rival that of other Minelab multi frequency detectors. It’s truly at home in a salt water environment. In discrimination mode, it was quiet and stable throughout the wet sand. In the surf, I reduced the sensitivity from level 10 to 8 and it performed flawlessly.

SIMULTANEOUS MULTI-FREQUENCY

Many single frequency detectors also struggle to find gold, if the operate at a super low frequency. The Vanquish detectors multiple frequencies range from 5 kHz to 40 kHz. The higher kHz on these detectors makes finding gold, even small gold, easier. Any detector operating at 18 kHz or higher has the potential for finding gold (you can still find gold with detectors on a lower frequency, but the higher the frequency, the more small and fine gold you can find). I am almost sure that the Vanquish models are a direct competitor of the Ace series … and if people pay attention well, it is obvious that the Minelab models offer far more interesting stuff! Garrett people should probably think and consider that! Minelab VANQUISH series vs EQUINOX Series More than that, the real intelligence of the system is that the Multi-IQ processing will collate and compare the signals from all operating frequencies, analasing the similarities and differences between them to get a clearer picture of what's really down there. This gives you better target ID and discrimination at greater depth, and the versatility to perform in a wider range of ground types, handling mineralisation, wet sand, etc. That means you can find and identify targets that a single frequency will struggle with.

A: Depth can vary based on many factors like soil conditions, angle of the target, type of target, and sensitivity settings. The Vanquish 440 has been tested to read up to 12,” but the signal was weak, and no target ID was presented. This information was gathered using the standard V10 search coil that comes with the 440. Each of these metal detectors would be a great investment for a beginning detectorist. Minelab’s Vanquish line is changing the game by offering a true multiple frequency metal detector at an entry-level price. The Vanquish 440 is a great all-purpose metal detector and the Multi-IQ technology is a huge advantage. report 3 tones. Personally, I don’t need any more than 3 since ALL targets encountered are either low, medium or high conductors so why not align the tones accordingly? A simplified plus in my book. The Quest company is also working on a new series of advanced metal detecting machines, also in the beginner-middle level, but with a bunch of cool features. Each search mode is fully optimized for best performance in finding the specific treasures. This model also features Custom mode, which allows you to save your favorite settings (i.e., discrimination, sensitivity, volume, etc.). The Vanquish 440 works in all terrains, including mountains, deserts, rivers, beaches, fields, parks, and yards. To cut the long story short, it seems that for the first time in the last 10-15 years the market of metal detectors experiences a real revolution, and the Vanquish series is a big chunk of this revolution. Now, let’s see what interesting features this revolution brings. Purpose: Evaluate the overall operational capability, sensitivity and stability of the Minelab Vanquish 440 metal detector under various test conditions. As always, I report findings and provide comments from strictly a user perspective--not that of a technical engineer. Separation was again excellent overall. On most test targets I was able to place the junk right against the good target and the 440 was able to separate the good from the junk with ease. I used All Metal for this test so I could clearly hear the “iron grunt” of the junk.

Three tones are factory set at Low, Medium and High all of which are clear and very distinguishable. Not surprisingly, I like this set up since I programmed my Equinox 800 and my CTX 3030 years ago to It still features Minelab’s top-of-the-line Multi-IQ technology and has adjustable sensitivity and volume. These are all excellent features for metal detectors, and some that are not as common on entry-level metal detectors. You do not necessarily need more features; you need the right features when choosing a metal detector. So, if your budget is a bit thin, the Vanquish 340 will be a fantastic choice for you. They are even more than ordinary if compared with the rivals. Since, I believe this is the time to move on and offer the users something more than a standard control unit on a primitive shaft. What sets Multi-IQ apart from other so-called multi-frequency systems is that it is true Simultaneous multi-frequency. That is you are transmitting and receiving on all supported frequencies at the same time as opposed to selecting just one frequency from a given range to use at any one time, which is probably better described as switchable frequency. Switching frequency is effectively like swapping one single frequency coil for another, without physically swapping it. With Minelab's simultaneous multi-frequency it's like using all your coils in one sweep of your machine. Note of appreciation: I want to thank Kellyco for providing the Vanquish 440 for me to evaluate as well as my hunting buddy and good friend Gary Bronga for his valued contribution to this report.Minelab promises the Vanquish 440 will work well on all metals in all soils all the time. Custom Find Mode allows you to save your favorite settings. Many very low frequency (VLF) metal detectors struggle in mineralized soils, wet sand, and saltwater terrains. This model does better than most in these areas because of the Multi-IQ technology. The Vanquish 440 has 12 discrimination segments to control which metals to accept or reject and allow for a customized search. Each of these search modes is preset and fully optimized to allow the best performance. The 440 works very well in all terrains, including mountains, rivers, deserts, parks, fields, beaches, and gold fields. The Custom mode allows you to save your favorite settings. Multi-IQ and the 12 discrimination segments on this model allow the detector to work well in even the most difficult soil conditions, such as saltwater and gold bearing areas. So, let’s take a closer look at Vanquish. Here we’ll deal with a metal detector pretty similar to Minelab Equinox, but with sufficiently decreased functionality.

VANQUISH welcomes tough terrain. It dominates at the beach in wet sand and salt water, outperforming other detectors that can’t compete. 12 discrimination segments deliver control over what metals you want to accept or reject. Minelab is one of the beset metal detector manufacturers today, and their Vanquish line of metal detectors shows their capabilities. This model has 12 discrimination segments, so you can customize it to work in all terrains and all soil types. It features 19 channel automatic noise cancelling, 3 target tones, lag-free audio, and 10 volume adjustments. This model is lightweight, at just 2.6 pounds, and comes standard with Minelab’s V10 10” by 7” Double-D waterproof search coil. It should be noted that the control box is weatherproof, not waterproof, so it should not be submerged in water. Take caution when hunting near water or you risk ruining the metal detector. Operating at frequencies above 14 kHz significantly increases the chances of finding gold, so the ability to scan up to 40 kHz is a major bonus. It is important to remember that to find gold, you must look where gold has already been found. Gold is not in all areas, so be sure you are searching in areas known to contain gold or you are setting yourself up for failure. The 440 is the epitome of user friendliness, comfort and effective simplicity. It weighs a minuscule 2.6 lbs with batteries installed and the balance is very good with the 10x7 coil. The control box display is large, very readable and all controls are easy to reach and a snap to use. Options: As I’ve list below the Vanquish series offer basically 4 models that you can choose from … Instead, Equinox has only 2 models 600 and 800!
