About this deal

Dragged up on a council estate, Jason Rampling was determined to change his lot. Jason’s a chancer, shameless with his good looks and his gift for earning a few quid. Life is easy when the money rolls in. I won't give anything away at all because this compelling novel deserves to be read and judged on its own merits, without any spoilers, but seriously it was just awesome! At the core of this novel is the relationship between Jason and Melissa. To some degree they need each other, and we get to know both of them equally well, but it’s Jason who remains the primary interest for the reader, and I now feel as if I'm leaving behind people that I’ve come to know really well, such is the author’s talent in literally giving them life. Kimberley has a natural gift for creating very colourful characters, that are larger than life, by the time you get to Tainted Love you feel like you know them all personally, foibles and all (and believe me they all have plenty of them!) they will make you laugh, cry, love and hate them, all in the space of a few minutes! The dialogue between the characters had me choking on my coffee at times, some of Kimberley’s one liners are original in their content to say the least, but if you don’t like swearing then you should give Tainted Love a wide berth, as there is plenty of it! For me I feel the swearing was in context with the plot and the characters, at times it’s very colourful, but also very funny.

Some may view crime thrillers as lowbrow compared to a lot of high-brow, anal retentive literature. The difference being that people actually love reading Kimberley Chambers work as she knows how to entertain, keep a reader, and not bore them to death. Chambers gives you a rollercoaster ride of a thriller that is gripping, breath-taking and a guide to the low life of Essex. From 1986 to 2001 we are taken on a high speed tour of the family and how it could grow apart and then once again come together. We see both Vinny and Michael’s children also take their rightful place in the East End society. Dan and Lee were Michael’s boys, with Little Vinny and Ava, Vinny’s children. We see them get older and develop their own character; Ava cared for by Queenie with Fred her dog, who has a thing for Viv’s leg.I loved every bit of this book, and I don't think my words will get across just how freaking good this series of books has been. The Butlers are crazy, I mean crazy and as I've said previously they really have no redeeming qualities but I love the way the author tells their story. This must be made into a tv series one day. Chambers was an extremely smart and gifted student in primary and secondary school. Her best subject was English. For reasons unknown, Chambers grades began to plummet. When she was eleven, she states that “things began to deteriorate.” After a few years, her academic life became so stark that she decided to leave her secondary school.

And as I said with the last bookThe Wronged, I didn't believe Kimberley could match it, By god how this woman likes to prove you wrong. she's freakin smashed it with this book. And this book just show's why Kimberley Chambers is the favourite author of many, many people. She is certainly one of my all time favourite authors. Vinny Butler only ever enjoyed shagging birds up the rear. Not only was the hole tighter, it saved him from having to look at their stupid faces. Where do I start, fans of Kimberley Chambers will love this and I firmly believe this could be her best book yet. You do need to read the first 3 in this series in my opinion to fully experience this story.. It is a story about Relationships, secrets, lies betrayal and plenty of grit. Which I highly recommend giving it 5 massive stars. I really cannot get into the plot. I wouldn’t know where to begin. Be assured though that these books are addictive and enthralling. I loved them all.

Publication Order of The Bonds Books

Both families are a part of the seedy underbelly of the East End and Stratford. Jessica Smith and Eddie Mitchell become engaged, against the wishes of Jessica’s father. The two are swept away into a world of crime, murder, and deception. The Feud This series covers a span of just about 30 years. Throughout each book the lives of the Butlers were tainted with dark secrets and hatred coming from those who have felt the wrath of this family. Revenge and betrayal is known by all. Be it the wives, the children, the boys or the men in the business. There was no escaping it. I searched for that silver lining but just couldn’t find it. It was the nature of the beast I guess.

So I bet you are all wondering what I thought then?!... Well I must admit I was nervous because after reading the Butlers and the characters becoming part of my life I really didn't know what to expect. BUT I am happy to report that Kimberly has pulled out all the punches and totally nailed it! This book annoyed me. For several reasons, I was relieved once I had finally reached the Epilogue and, whilst the ending surprised me, I was too far gone with my judgement to award this novel anything more than three stars. Allow me to explain… It's going to be hard going for Kimberley to better this book, But I'm sure she'll manage it, (No Pressure Kim)I will admit, I had a tear or two in my eye's towards the end. And I certainly had a few OH MY GOD, NO! WHAT? I just loved the way this book went and the way it opened up new twists, and an awful lot you just don't expect. I could have happily read another 2 or 3 books in this series right after finishing it, as there was some things I wanted to know more about. But we'll just have to wait to re visit them hopefully one day. The Butler boys ruled the East End or wherever they landed. They were all despicable in their own rite but it was Vinny who was the most evil and vindictive. He was vile. The gifted novelist only has nine books, but her impact on London and around the world has been huge. Chambers has a three book series: The Traitor Chambers, Victim and The Feud. The series revolves around a long time feud between two families; the Mitchells and the O’Haras. Vinnie senior hasn't changed much despite his years, Vinnie junior is seemingly a changed man but somethings you just can't leave behind & Michael is about to be tested to the limit. The family is full of drama and very much live by the sword, die by the sword, the time has come for debts to be settled but who will pay?

The story starts off with one very intriguing prologue told from Jason’s point of view introducing himself. I was left thinking OMG how different is this. We then follow his story of Life of Crime told from third person perspective.Where we meet some very different characters. Some that you will like and of course some that you wont like. It wouldn't be a Kimberly Chambers book if it didn't have some bad guys in it. Then the unthinkable happens, Vinny’s beautiful daughter Molly disappears. The Butler brothers depart on a frantic search for the little girl. They don’t know if their enemies have taken her, or if the kidnapping is revenge for what Vinny has done.Melissa, a single mum, walks into Jason’s life, and she falls in love with Jason and is willing to take him and his daughter on. She is just happy someone is interested in her, and he has fallen on his feet when he finds out who her father is. Johnny Brookes a well known local businessman with money falling all around him. Who does give Jason a warning never to break his beloved daughters heart. Tainted Love is a fantastic book and I made me smile when I saw where the title came from, but that would spoil the plot. Anyone who has had a run in with Her Majesty’s finest and been near the type of circles the Butlers move in will recognise the characterisation of many they have come across in the Butlers. This might be set in the East End, but could easily be Salford, Moss Side in Greater Manchester or Northfield in Birmingham, St Paul’s Bristol, amongst many. It was then I knew that I’d finally found my vocation in life. I mad very little notes, other than some character names. After I finished each chapter, the next came easy.” With the encouragement of friends, Chambers bought a copy of the Writers and Artists Year Book and scrolled through the list of agents. These two characters embodied many principles that I disagree with and, as a result, it felt uncomfortable reading. I do realise that reading allows you to immerse yourself into an imaginary world, but this was too far-fetched for my liking. The naivety of the characters was incredible, particularly with the forever-absent police. Seeing where the plot would go was a further disappointment, although the final twist was satisfying and I really did not see it coming.
