Description

If you are a 4-6 piece band, and you want to mic up drums, you will probably want to look at a ten channel option that allows for a little wiggle room. The Yamaha MG10XU is precisely that, making for a good-quality, affordable option. It's lightweight, with sensible dimensions for traveling to gigs with.

Power Requirements: PA-10 (AC 38 VCT, 0.62A, Cable length = 3.6 m) or equivalent recommended by Yamaha If you’re recording something dynamic like a podcast or a full band, you’re going to be working the mixer a lot more. In this case, we’d recommend the Yamaha MG10XUF for its improved speed, accuracy, and other additional features.

Some similarly priced compact mixers typically only provide two phantom capable channels, but the MG10XU gives you double. You could have a couple of singers and still hook-up a couple of overheads for your drummer, or even mic up a guitar cab if you fancied it. The other channels are stereo inputs for line-level stereo output instruments, such as keyboards. They can also be used for iPods to play music between your sets without faffing around unprofessionally. Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.03 % @ +14dBu (20 Hz to 20kHz), GAIN knob: Min, 0.005 % @ +24dBu (1kHz), GAIN knob: Min The mixing consoles within the MG series gives users outstanding control over the improved frequency response and sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channel with PAD switch allows MIC to line level of inputs and attenuates high input signals. Therefore, the mixer can avoid issues with clipping that can be so prevalent in affecting a mix.

Each channel has 3-band EQ on hand and signal matching (25db pad) and a high-pass filter (80Hz). Channels 1 and 2 also have compression dials, and there is optional phantom power for channels 1-4, available for condensers. Channels 5/6 and 7/8 have both ¼ -inch and RCA connections so you could even use a turntable. They have low and high EQ controls of their own. Inputs at 9/10 can be used as a stereo line-level, or with a USB 2.0 cable by engaging the USB button. The Sampling rate is 192kHz with a 24-bit depth. The MG10XU is solidly constructed, has a rugged strain relief power cable, and has some neat features that a few competitive models don't match in this price range. The built-in effects give great scope to help tailor your sound. It's idyllic for live performance. Pros

Mixing consoles experience harsh environmental conditions such as excessive temperatures, humidity, unstable power supplies and the testing conditions of travel in general. This is why the MG series mixers have been built to last and withstand the trials and tribulations of a variety of testing situations. The console features an incredibly robust, powder-coated metal chassis that is designed for convection cooling as well as reducing operational noise. The circuit board and each component underneath is thoroughly protected with controlled placement of the chassis to ensure that no impact passes through the casing. The Yamaha MG10XU uses rotary knobs to manage the channel level, while the Yamaha MG10XUF has faders. For us, faders are preferable for 2 main reasons.

Featuring an updated version of Yamaha's highly regarded SPX effects processor, the MG10XUF offers up to 24 editable digital effects. These built-in effects provide additional depth to an overall sound or give a boost to a live band performance. With incredible reverb and delay effects, the mixer delivers a natural sound full of clarity. Credit subject to status and affordability. Terms & Conditions Apply.
