It’s when the XG Mobile comes into play that things get interesting. For the life of me, I’m baffled how they fit an RTX 3080 into such a small enclosure. Even though I wish Asus could have found a more elegant solution than that huge proprietary plug, I can’t argue with the results. The XG Mobile is the proverbial trap card, transforming it into the dark magician of gaming laptops. It doesn’t have any right to be as powerful as it is, but here we are, again impressed by Asus’ ingenuity. The host device must support Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode or USB-C 3.1 (generation 1 or 2). Compatibility Information: Works with Windows laptops or non-M1 MacBooks equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port. Not compatible with M1 MacBooks or Linux or Chrome OS laptops. For many laptop shoppers, portability is king, and there's nothing more portable than a tablet. With touch screens and support for a pen or stylus, the most popular laptops today often do double duty as tablets. There are two ways to achieve this: Convertible 2-in-1 designs that rotate between notebook and slate modes with 360-degree hinges, or detachable models that let you remove the keyboard entirely to become a standalone tablet. Testing the 2022 Dell XPS 13 2-in-1: Steady as the Intel U-Series Goes
I've appeared on CBS News, in USA Today, and at many other outlets to offer analysis on breaking technology news. When we ran the Handbrake video transcoding benchmark, the Plus transcoded a 4K video to 1080p in 8 minutes and 17 seconds, roasting the 9:47 category average. The MacBook Pro saw a time of 6:51. That is not too shabby for a mainstream laptop.. A: Yes, however, it can only deliver a maximum bandwidth of 10Gbps, so it cannot not reach the maximum bandwidth of Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps). We covered the downsides of that for the XPS 13 itself in that review, but here, it doesn’t seem to have hindered things. This is probably a better overall 2-in-1 solution than the old convertible style, because folding the keyboard behind the screen is not as sleek or comfortable as holding a real tablet. The ports are limited, and the battery could last longer, but with the XPS Folio, this is a better-built and more capable laptop-replacing 2-in-1 than many rivals. The ability to display on 4 screens simultaneously depends on the capabilities of the laptop’s graphics card.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 is a more interesting entry than the previous editions due to the detachable change. It’s still similar to the mainline XPS 13—in part because that system became more tablet-like at the same time, not less—so the difference is really down to form factor. That may be what Dell had in mind with its three current offerings (this detachable, the XPS 13 clamshell, and the XPS 13 Plus), delivering the same general computing experience with a different external design.Hard drive retention: Hard drive retention is not available on models with a soldered hard drive, including XPS 9315 2in1, Chromebooks or Venue tablets, except the Venue 11 Pro. The new XPS being a tablet, the component options have a ceiling, but they are surprisingly close to the full-size XPS 13. The two are, in fact, quite similar; it’s more about which form factor is a better fit for you.
