Released in February 8, 2007, it was the second Cooking Mama game released and the first on a console. Like the original DS game, it was basic and simple, but featured different recipes based around the systems mechanics. A fourth sequel entitled Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic was released for the 3DS in fall in the US and November 11, 2011 in the UK, followed by Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appétit! in 2013. Two new modes: Friends and Foods of the World , in which the player battles against 10 foreign friends in a cook-off and Friends and Food, in which the player battles head-to-head against someone in multiplayer mode.

PETA stated that they were happy with the upcoming release of Gardening Mama, a spin-off of the series.

Completing a dish can require playing one minigame, or as many as a dozen. The player's performance is rated when each dish is finished, based on the average result of each minigame.
