Description

The battery in the Google Pixel 7 is an impressive 4355mAh, which is certain to last through a full day of intensive use, even with the high-tech specs included in the Pixel 7. Plus, say goodbye to tangled wires with 20W wireless charging technology. Use up to 5 GB of your full allowance in the EU and selected destinations at no extra cost. After this, you'll be charged 10p/MB while roaming. Flexible plans Pixel Fold: Estimated battery life based on testing using a median Pixel user battery usage profile across a mix of talk, data, standby and the use of other features. Average battery life during testing was approximately 33 hours. Battery testing conducted on a major operator network. Battery testing based on mix of inner and outer screen use and conducted in California in early 2023 on pre-production hardware and software using default settings. Battery life depends upon many factors and usage of certain features will decrease battery life. Actual battery life may be lower. There's no doubt that, with the Pixel 7, Google has carved out a niche in the current mobile phone landscape. A seriously premium smartphone from one of the top brands that performs admirably but - and this is the crucial bit - doesn't cost a fortune.

Obviously if you're looking to buy the Google Pixel 7, it is also well worth considering the larger Google Pixel 7 Pro. Both devices feature similar designs and features with 7 Pro simply making improvements in key areas. Where battery life wasn’t the Pixel 6’s strong suit last year, stamina is undoubtedly the star of the show in 2022. Boosting battery life by over four hours in our video rundown test, the Pixel 7 lasted 22hrs 43mins before needing a top-up. Google also says that if you enable the “Extreme Battery Saver” options in the phone’s settings, you could reach a massive 72 hours between charges. Proximity Sensor, Gyroscope Sensor, Accelerometer (G-Sensor), Magnetometer, Barometer, Fingerprint SensorIncremental improvement seems to be the general theme around new phone launches this year as Google has followed in the footsteps of Apple’s new iPhone 14, bringing out a Pixel 7 that isn’t entirely different from its predecessor. That said, there are still some decent upgrades - namely the new Tensor chipset that's hiding under the surface in both devices. Again, like the standard Pixel 7, the Pixel 7 Pro is more of an iterative upgrade as opposed to a revolution to the formula. You've essentially got the same screen (120Hz OLED), upgraded RAM (12GB), and design as on the previous model, with a few well-thought-out tweaks to the formula here and there. Another minor improvement is the front camera being bumped up to 10MP from 8MP, and it also supports 4K video at 60 FPS. The rear camera essentially supports the same lens setup and sensor as previously, but now features an upgraded 8x digital zoom and a new 'Movie Mode' which provides cinematic blurring, much akin to the iPhone's Cinematic Mode. Photography has always been the name of the game for previous Google phones and the Pixel 7 is no different. However, it’s a little odd that the hardware hasn’t really changed this year, with the 50MP, f/1.9 main camera returning alongside the 12MP, f/2.2 ultrawide sensor.

The main difference from last year’s device is in the camera, and in particular, the selfie camera which now has been upped for both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to a 10.8MP front camera. Other features also include a Macro Focus (for Pixel 7 Pro), higher zoom resolutions (30x zoom for Pixel 7 Pro and 8x zoom for Pixel 7) as well as real tone and movie motion blur, which will make your photography skills a lot better at capturing distant shots with more realistic colours and less wobble when filming. On the other hand, a phone contract will cost you more in the long run and will also tie you in for at least 2 years. But, it breaks your costs up so you can simply pay for both your phone's costs and the cost of a SIM plan all in one go.

The Google Pixel 7 is rated at a maximum charging speed of 30W and, in my testing, I found it went from zero to 50% in just over 30 minutes. It also supports 20W wireless charging via any Qi-compatible charger and it can reverse power share with other devices such as the Google Pixel Buds Pro. It can’t charge the new Pixel Watch, though, since that devices doesn’t support wireless charging. Google Pixel 7 review: Display You'll need to make sure your phone software is up to date and 5G is enabled on your giffgaff account.
