Description

Kill Team is very much Warhammer 40K in terms of setting and feel, and while some of the rules are similar and clearly based on the Warhammer 40K core rules, it does feel like a different game and very much identifies as a skirmish game. Games of Warhammer 40K, even at lower points values, can last for a couple of hours, but by its nature, Kill Team is designed to be played in well under an hour and usually at around 30-40 mins depending on player experience and troops used.

The Genestealer Cults sprue includes enough parts to construct 10 Neohpyte Hybrids with a variation of weapons, including heavy weapons, a cult icon, and several weapon combinations for the leader. The Cult Hybrids aren't as durable as the Skitarii, and while they have access to some solid heavy weapons, their standard loadout is limited in comparison. Each warrior is around half the points of the Skitarii and also much more deadly in close combat, so closing the distance to take advantage of this is key. They can also take up to four heavier weapons than their standard loadout, so can be pretty diverse in their weapon selections. In addition to the core rules, the Intercession Squad Kill Team will get you right into the action with a band of six powerful Primaris Intercessors or Assault Intercessors – which you can mix and match to suit your tactics. Citadel Miniatures: Two full kill teams of Veteran Guardsmen and Ork Kommandos form the heart of war zone Octarius, each featuring a wide array of customisation and alternate assembly options. Extra detail parts allow for deep personalisation of your kill team, with many models able to be assembled as multiple different kinds of operative. Each team also comes with a full transfer sheet with over 400 markings and emblems for customising your models. The Starter Set comes with two books. The first is a smaller, more compact edition of the Kill Team core rules. Trooper Veteran - The basic troopers armed with lasguns and bayonets. Useful for mission objectives, swarming, and shielding other units. With thirteen other choices in your ten-operative Kill Team, you're unlikely to take these unless you go with the extra four troopers in the Ancillary Support option. Building a Kill Team in this edition is a much more straightforward affair than in most other Games Workshop skirmish games. There’s no points system where each operative type and weapon has a certain cost that you’ll have to balance against a points limit for the mission you’re playing. Instead, there are clear rules for how many models each Kill Team can take, and what different operatives they have to choose from.

The more detailed answer though is that yes, Kill Team itself is very much an Entry Level game; it's just the Starter Set that requires a more experienced level of hobby knowledge. The fact that players are playing with a very small, select amount of miniatures keeps the overall cost very low, as well as being very appealing and a great lead-in to collecting Warhammer 40K full scale. As an example, a player playing a Space Marine Kill Team would be able to buy a few squads for individual miniatures and play with those before looking to create a full force for use in Warhammer 40K, and as the rules are clearly based on and overlap with the Warhammer 40K core rules, players shouldn't be out of their depth going into 40K afterwards. The Starter Set products for Know No Fear and First Strike for Warhammer 40K, however, are incredible as Entry Level products as detailed in our Start Collecting Warhammer 40K article. That's not to put beginners off Kill Team; as a Starter Set it is perfect, but the level of detail in the miniatures, scenery, and the amount of options of miniature construction for the two Starter Set Kill Teams will require some time, patience, and work from a beginner. A set of blank data cards for recording the information and stats of your Kill Team (with some pre-filled in examples of the Skitarrii and Cult Neophytes) So, if you want to start playing the game, but you’re not particularly fond of either of the teams in the starter set, you’re better off buying a Core Book, the book with rules for your preferred Kill Team, the models for your team and an Essentials box. They’re another really great kit. Each miniature is bursting with personality and is utterly unique. As with all of the recent 40K Ork releases, the Kommandos kit does a great job of treading the fine line between “pant-wettingly hilarious” and “flat-out terrifying” that Orks in the 41st Millennium love to use as a skipping rope (or as something to strangle a particularly beefy foe with). Scenery The Nachmund campaign book with rules for both kill teams in the box, as well as rules for playing campaigns and other battles in the Nachmund Killzone.

This book’s about half the size of the Core Rulebook that came with Octarius – sized the same as the Crusade books or the General’s Handbook or 40k Grand Tournament Missions book – and it has everything you’ll find in the larger core rules. It’s just much handier and easier to carry around; perfect for taking to events or a friend’s house. I want all rulebooks to be this size, but I’ll settle for just not making them hardcover most of the time. fighting the Close Quarters battles of the Into the Dark season, as well as for the missions and campaign scenarios specific to the Into the Dark box (read our campaign guide here) This box is a bit unusual: It isn’t an expansion to a specific season, but rather a narrative expansion for Kill Team. The box contains: Different modes of play decide how you set up before the game begins, but when everything including objectives have been set up, each player gets to place their Kill Team operatives in their Drop Zone, which is determined by the mission layout. When that’s been done, the game begins. Turning Points and Phases in Kill Team Kill Team is a great system that conjures a real sense of tight, tactical decision-making for your tabletopYou also own a Base of Operations that you can upgrade with new rooms and facilities called Strategic Assets, and you can spend Requisition Points to gain even more bonuses. The rules for this team can be found in the Kill Team Annual 2022 book. Read our guide for these exotic explorers here. Gellerpox Infected
