About this deal

The Elves have a tendency of sleeping in and being lazy, which is why the leader, Galadriel is equipped with a megaphone to wake them up. Winter Village sets have evolved to be more than a standard LEGO offering. Just like the Modular Buildings, their annual release have become highly anticipated within the more adult LEGO community. So much so that this year LEGO have included the Winter Village set in their 18+ category, you can expect the next Modular in January to be an 18+ set too. My favorite Winter Village set I've built is set 10254-1 Holiday Train, but there's one I don't have that I'd love to get my hands on, set 10235-1 Village Market. It’s been an issue since this headpiece was introduced, and it’s kind of disappointing that LEGO haven’t been able to fix it to this day. The Reindeer pulls a small basic sleigh, which has pearl gold embellishments which contrast nicely against the red and white.

Bag 4: Last years Gingerbread House set an incredibly high bar for roof design, one that is unlikely to ever be beaten. But the Elf Club House gives it a good try. It has some steep, dramatic slopes that aren't often seen in LEGO houses, and as long as you can look past the small gap where the roof sections join, you'll love the final look, especially the curvy edges. It would have been so easy to design this with the straight edge but the designer took that specific step to add depth to the roofline. The main roof section is also held on by so little it's a complete mystery to me how it seems so solid and secure. At over 8.5” (22cm) high and 5” (13cm) deep, this building set for adults and families makes an impressive Christmas present or secret Santa gift idea with a display model to enjoy year after year. I highly recommend this set, for everyone, you will not be disappointed by the end model, there's just so much that's great about it.

In this set, we get a Pirate Ship (a nod to the Creator Pirate Ship)and a keyboard (which references the Grand Piano), and a red propeller, as well as 2 presents. This just filled me with so much joy about how random this is, yet it fits the overall playful theme of this set so well.

I adore this set. Sure I've complained along the way, there's bits I don't love, but that's because a perfect set doesn't exist. My complaints over the chimney, boring Minifigures, and small footprint are completely wiped away by how great this set looks and how fun it is to play with. It was a great build, nothing groundbreaking just solid fun, and Chris McVeigh's skills are on full show. Anyone who knows his work as a LEGO artist before joining LEGO will immediately recognise his fingerprints on the small furnishings. The old school PC is a great example of his ability to create small, simple, yet brilliant, mundane items.I don’t believe there’s an existing red propeller, although it could be a reference to this Duplo plane. Maybe LEGO are hinting at a Creator Expert propeller coming in the near future. What do you think of the 2020 Winter Village set? Do you think it’s a great addition to the Winter Village and does it fit in well with the other buildings? Last but not least of the mini builds is this amazing retro desktop computer, with Elf looking up Santa’s Nice List. You think Facebook is bad because they have so much data on you? Wait till you see Santa’s file on you.

This year’s design is a breath of fresh air, and I love the use of 2 x 1 cutout wedges to give the tree its angled shape and sense of texture. This is a minor, minor gripe, and has been a problem forever, but I really dislike the colour bleeding from the Elf hat onto their ears. Bag 2: Onto the house. Immediately you notice now tight the floorprint is, a sharp contrast to the sprawling two story Gingerbread House last year. By the end of the bag you have the second floor in place. The wrap station is just flawless, I love it when small details grab me like this, they make a model so much more interesting. It's a shame we didn't get more space to flesh out the rest of the Elves living area. The use of studs embedded into the tree itself works remarkbly well visually, and I love the feeling of discovering and building each year’s Christmas tree.

It’s been tradition on the blog to publish my review of this year’s Winter Village set around Christmas, but LEGO were kind enough to offer the set for review, and I couldn’t wait till December. The design of the Elf Club House is immediately recognizable as belonging to the Winter Village, thanks to the iconic sloped snow-blanketed roof and inclusion of the chimney.

The interiors are tiny, but they managed to squeeze in some furniture, and a sitting area, which is a great use of what little space they had. Last but not least are the Christmas lights, which employ yet another new technique using bulbs instead of studs. Say hello to the 2020 LEGO Winter Village set – 10275 Elf Club House, the perfect addition to your Christmas LEGO display. Last year, in my review of set Gingerbread House, I spoke a little about Winter Village sets and Christmas LEGO in general. You can also read other WInter Village / Christmas articles using the links below. The Elf Clubhouse joins 2014’s Santa’s Workshop and last year’s Gingerbread House as a fantasy-themed expansion of LEGO’s beloved Winter Village theme, which is a personal favourite of mine.
