In the first film they had no idea that there were king and queen dragons, so the night fury got the name to be the most rare and most fierce. True they resemble some but Dreamworks gives them a life of their own, thus defying what makes a dragon a dragon. Just because common culture doesn't have giant dragons with tusks doesn't mean its not a dragon. In my mind, the more inventive they get with these beasts the better! That way people don't always look at dragons the same way any more, as just creatures with two legs or four legs with a set of wings. Or even no wings and just a long body. This way people get to use their imagination, and for kids this will be an epic thing to imagine.
