If you would like to win a copy of this game in time for Christmas (various strikes and delivery companies dependent) then enter via the Rafflecopter widget before midnight on Sunday 20th November 2023. UK entry and over 18s only, all other T&Cs in the widget.

It’s been a while since we did a full on game review, but this one was fun and the kids are currently obsessed with it, so here’s what you need to know about the Upside Down Challenge Game. What’s in the box?

Join David and Shane and create your own video that no one has ever seen before in the Schmancy Schmashup game! The stars of The Upside Down Show have prepared this set for you and can't wait to get started. How many entertaining videos will you produce? Starting with the youngest player you take a card from the pile and complete the challenge. The twist in this game is that when it is your turn you have to wear the special glasses which flip everything you see upside down and gives you a narrow field of vision.

Most of the tasks are very straightforward and self-explanatory. When completing the tasks, the players are expected to follow a simple set of rules: The game continues, with players taking turns attempting to complete the same challenge each round, unit one player has earned five or more points. The first player to do so is the winner! Each challenge card has two difficulty levels so younger children can do the easier ones (marked with a feather) and adults can do the ones marked with a dumbbell. I saw so many things, then one day I found the most extraordinary thing of all. Something that would change everything. I saw a means to realize my potential, to transcend my human form, to become the predator I was always born to be. Should you get this game? If you have younger Child Geeks, I think you’re going to enjoy yourself. For the family, the game is going to be a pleasant and enjoyable experience, as well, regardless of the age range. For you, elitist Gamer Geeks, do as one of your peers suggested and avoid it. Or don’t. During the time of COVID, everything is upside down. You might find that a game you wouldn’t consider in a thousand years is exactly what you need now in this crazy upside down time we find ourselves in. Overall I think the #UpsideDown Challenge game is fun. The exercises are all challenging (although there are varying levels) and it encourages people to really focus to try to complete the challenges. There are only 32 games cards which gives you 90 possible drawings to draw and 34 action challenges of various levels. This isn’t many, but you can complete the same challenge multiple times and still find them difficult. Are either of these theories great? Who knows at this point. They aren’t giving us a lot to work with. What monsters live in the Upside Down? Image: Netflix

Overall, The #UpsideDownChallenge Game is one you’ll enjoy and most likely forget. The goggles, however, are going to live on and be enjoyed by the kids for much longer and well away from the gaming table. It’s fascinating to see the world upside down and even more attractive to observe how the simplest of activities suddenly turn into difficult tasks. I had my youngest try on the goggles before we played the game to see how debilitating they would indeed be. He could barely walk down the hall. That said, the human brain is an incredible thinking machine. The longer you play the game, the easier it is for the player to correct their actions. To play, you will also need some other objects including toilet roll tubes and water (if you’re brave!) before the game starts, although if you don’t have these to hand you can skip these challenges. Who can play the #UpsideDownChallenge?

Before buying The Upside Down Challenge Game

Gameplay is fairly straightforward. You can choose to play the easy or the more difficult challenges which are denoted by a feather (easy) or a dumbell (hard). Starting with the youngest player, they draw a card from the pile and do the challenge!

Continue completing upside down challenges until a player earns five points and is crowned the winner The moment that the Upside Down was quote-unquote “created” inadvertently by Eleven, the set dressing and the world of the Upside Down is frozen in that moment. So like when we’re in Nancy’s room, we’ll discover in the Upside Down that Nancy’s room is as it was season 1 when we first were introduced to it. When Vecna first entered the Upside Down, he wandered the wasteland until he came across a living cloud of dark mist, which was a primitive form of the Mind Flayer. Vecna, who absorbs beings’ consciousnesses and resultantly feeds off their power, knew he had stumbled upon exactly what he needed to exact his revenge on the world: Drawing cards - indicated by the pen symbol. The player chooses which of the 3 symbols they plan to draw and the other players have to guess. If someone guesses correctly both they and the person who did the drawing get a point (or chip). While this is obviously quite unsettling for Will, his ongoing connection to the Upside Down might provide the gang with an advantage in their fight against Vecna. “I can still remember what he thinks, and how he thinks,” Will told Mike.

Once every player has had a chance to attempt to complete the challenge and points are earned, the round is over. A new round then begins by drawing a new Challenge card. In the box you receive one pair of adjustable Upside Down Goggles, 32 playing cards containing 120 cards, a timer and a pop-out token board.
