About this deal

In the interim, I would suggest that Ubiquiti use the Cloud Key Plus 2 to calculate speed tests, rather than the running the test on the USG. as described below, even the USG Pro 4 is unable to make full use of a symmetrical gigabit Internet connection with both IPS and DPI enabled (even before enabling QOS). the best way to fix this issue is by swapping the two OEM fans for Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM Premium-Quality Quiet 40mm fans, as shown in this video, here. Used to feed redundant DC power to the UDM-Pro, and 2nd generation Pro/Enterprise switches that support it. Not a switch, but does have an in-band Ethernet management port. You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

we replaced five legacy passive switches in our network with six 8 POE-60W actively managed switches, and EdgeRouters have been around a long time, and are still technically supported with hotfixes and occasional software updates. The newer UISP hardware line is the safer bet for long term support, although EdgeRouters still have a lot of feature advantages. Only time will tell how the development goes for the UXG-Pro. If you have an existing UniFi network with your own controller, this is probably going to be a better fit that the UDM or UDM-Pro. The unannounced base UXG should be a good little router, if Ubiquiti can get the software right. These 2nd generation models have quieter cooling fans, a small touchscreen on the left side, and support for UniFi AR, which lets you see virtually see what devices are connected

Key Features

For outdoor applications, shielded Category 5 (or above) cabling should be used for all wired Ethernet connections and should be grounded through the AC ground of the power supply. Basically a UDM-Pro, plus PoE out on the 8-port switch, 128 GB of internal storage, and an upgraded 2.5 Gbps RJ45 WAN port. Because hardware acceleration is disabled, Ubiquiti says that enabling IPS will affect the USG’s maximum throughput: I have been at this for hours and changed almost every configuration I could think of to get it to work and still nothing. I am running a Netgear c7000v2 with Internal IP of 192.168.0.1 going into a Zimaboard with PFSense 2.7.0 with DHCP from Modem of 192...

The UXG-Pro should be able to handle the same levels of connections as the UDM-Pro, which with IDS and IPS disabled can do 3.5Gbps. Hardware offloading lets you use dedicated hardware to accelerate some tasks. You can turn it on or off depending on what you are trying to do. This applies to the USG/USG-Pro, and also EdgeRouters.Redesigned to be more intuitive and easier to navigate, the new UI raises the bar for enterprise network management efficiency. Important network details are logically organized for a simplified, yet powerful, interface. We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

Ubiquiti still sells almost all of the 1st generation models of UniFi switches. They are older, but they can be better options for some networks. Unlike with the USG/USG-Pro, the 1st generation switches come without major performance limitations. Older Desktop/Small Switches Never a dropped device connection!! The Netgear would constantly drop devices from the network requiring a reboot (angry face emoji). Currently the system has ~ 60 connected devices and not 1 has ever dropped. RJ45 ports support 10/100/1000 Ethernet connections. A WAN port is active only if the corresponding SFP port is empty. By default, the WAN1 port is set to DHCP Client. The DNAT rule # ranges are from 1-4999, and the Source/Masquerade rule numbers are from 5000-9999. If you wanted to add a port forward (DNAT) in the config.gateway.json for WAN2 in a multiWAN (load-balance) setup, this is what the config.gateway.json would look like with only this particular NAT rule: The pro models have lots of PoE, support redundant power via the USP-RPS, and have some limited L2+/L3 features like static routing and a DHCP server NOTE: When editing this customjson file, it is not necessary to include everything. You must only include the complete "path" to the items you have edited, anything outside of the path can be omitted. A comprehensive overview of your Network Health is readily available in the new dashboard. Monitor your network’s vitals and make on-the-fly adjustments as needed. Use the configurable reporting and analytics to monitor large user groups and expedite troubleshooting. Advanced search and sorting capabilities make network management more efficient.

Additionally, some IPS are anomaly-based. These IPS focus on statistical deviations from IP traffic baselines. For example, a server might be generating more traffic than usual. Or, a new host might be identified. The UDM and UXG run a different underlying operating system than the USG. The CPU is an easy way to tell. Older MIPS-based devices EdgeRouters and the USG run EdgeOS. ARM based devices like the UDM and UXG run UniFi OS. An ARM port of EdgeOS is unlikely. UniFi OS is a custom Linux distribution made with Buildroot Linux that mostly follows Debian standards. In their announcement, Ubiquiti said this about UniFi OS: Gigabit routing is no issue, but firewall and encryption speeds are limited, with slightly higher limits than the USG.I think long term, it will be better to move away from that system. Manual configuration file changes were unsupported, poorly documented, and your changes could be removed with firmware updates. Ubiquiti has promised full feature parity (and more!), but we will see. It will take a lot of development work to get parity with the officially supported USG features. Throughput Details Downgrades to dual-core ARM CPU, vs the quad-core on the UDM. Lower IDS/IPS throughput as a result. UniFi OS Console - Can run all UniFi applications (Network, Protect, Talk, Connect, Access, and UID)
