About this deal

The romance stole my unmentionables and burned them on the funeral pyre of my last shreds of dignity. I have come undone. I am messily in love with this book. I love Alex so hard. We’re thrilled to share an excerpt from in The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels, a fantastical historical romance from author India Holton—available June 15th from Berkley Press. No, I mean those moments when nothing important is happening, such as during travel. After supper. Before sleeping. Or whilst one's opponent reloads their gun.”

Setting that aside, this book is still quirky and loads of fun. It took me a while to warm up to Charlotte, but I already loved Alex from the first book, and it was entertaining to run into plenty of old friends along the way. India: Thank you for the compliment! The characters very much came with a life of their own and it was just my job to write that down as best I could. Often I’d have a plan of action for them and they’d choose to do something else—and they always turned out to be right about it. I very much wrote this book with an attitude of “let’s just have some fun here!” and that gave me the breadth to allow my characters to stretch right out and be as fully themselves as possible. So this ends with a strong four stars, though I know I'll have to be in the right mood if I plan on going further in the series. It was genuinely amazing waltz between different genres and I didn’t expect to have so great time but I truly liked the unique and clever writing experience, hilarious dialogues and surprising world building which earned extra half star from me : so I’m rounding up 4.5 stars to 5 extra funny, feminism vibes, intellectual, sassy, wise stars! If only she could leave London with all its cacophony and retire to Hampshire, birthplace of Jane Austen, where green peace whispered wild yet gentle poetry to one's heart. It was never to be - duty forced her presence in London, noble duty (and the fact there was not much of value to steal in the countryside) - yet still, she dreamed.'Magnificent in every sense. India Holton's writing is gorgeous and lyrical, her dialogue clever and witty, and her characters loveable and unforgettable

For the purpose of smothering you with your pillow—that was all I meant. No need for such alarm. And please do call me Ned.” Honestly, this book is not perfect but the way Ned and Cecilia interact with each other and mostly Ned and his charismatic personality, it's so hard to dislike the book. The romance is swoon worthy. The dialogues are quote worthy. We get a scene of Ned helping her get undressed, knife to her throat but all they do is flirt with each other, him stealing a whole library for her just cause he knows she loves books. Do I need to say more? Ahhh. A joyride of a debut . . . As if The Parasol Protectorate series met The Princess Bride and a corseted Lara Croft: Tomb Raider This is a companion to book 1 so it could technically be read on its own - however I highly recommend starting with book 1 (because it's fantastic). After how much I loved that first book, I had really high executions going into this one. But this had absolutely everything I loved about that first book with new charming and wonderful characters. Suddenly, he was at her side. Cecilia sighed, lowering her book and looking at him sidelong beneath an arched eyebrow. She did not know how to more clearly convey her disdain, but he just grinned in response.Christina: At the beginning of the book, you provide a “Table of Significant Characters,” which is quite long. Did you have any trouble juggling the cast? Which character do you feel most drawn toward? I would also definitely recommend reading book one first. If you like Jane Austen, The Princess Bride, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Fun Times, Good Times, Sexy Times, and myriad other Times, I’d say give it a bang. Under the employment of the dastardly Captain Morvath - who wants to rid the world of these Lady Scoundrels - Ned knows he has one job to do. A prim and proper lady thief must save her aunt from a crazed pirate and his dangerously charming henchman in this fantastical historical romance. A lady scoundrel goes on a road trip with a smooth-tongued assassin in an alternate-universe Victorian Britain.

it has the charm of a netflix original that would be all the rage on release only to be forgotten about a month later due to the binge model by its general audience after it begins the careers of young british stars whilst rejuvenating the careers of beloved british actors - i say this as a compliment, so please do take it as such. witty, sometimes too clever for its own good, never afraid to be unserious, this truly was an experience.

Smiling at this thought, she nodded to a passing woman, veered away from some children scampering with a puppy, and called briefly in to Sally Lunn’s for an iced bun before continuing on to the library.

But whatever the goal, every time I thought we'd reached it, I would be surprised to discover my audiobook still had 20% to go.If books are truly a portable magic, then The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels is a satchel full of powerful spells and glittering fairy dust.” —Lynn Painter, author of Better Than the Movies Think about a group of multi tasking women who can use weapons expertly as they resume sipping their teas and gossiping about last royalty scandals. And of course they can steal everything in front of your eyes cunningly and adroitly without getting noticed and then taking the direction of their houses to fly them anywhere they want like a skillful pirate captain who controls his ship. Cheers to those ladies! Thank you so, so much to Berkley Romance for providing an e-arc of this!! All thoughts and opinions are still my own. As much fun as the English language will permit.”—New York Times Book Review on The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels
