After emerging from a Portal, The Demogorgon is cloaked by the Undetectable Status Effect for 5 seconds. In the World of Greyhawk, Demogorgon is known to the troglodyte followers under the alias of Ahmon-Ibor, the Sibilant Beast. The yuan-ti in their hidden caverns worship him as Siosivash. In Seasons 1 and 2 of Netflix's Stranger Things, the residents of Hawkins, Indiana are terrorized by a strange creature known as "The Demogorgon". The kids at the forefront of the show may have repurposed the name, inspired by the monster from their D&D campaign. As D&D players are well aware, the Stranger Things version of Demogorgon varies not insignificantly from the in-game version, but still... we're just glad to see this two-headed demon lord name-dropped so openly!On top of that, Demogorgon's abilities can disrupt a party. His actual spellcasting is mediocre, even if spells like Dispel Magic and Feeblemind can tip the fight heavily in his favor. Instead, he benefits from his Gaze ability and his supernatural Lair Actions. Demogorgon was the first of the tanar'ri, [8] a chaotic and misshapen creature formed from the primal fear of mortal souls. The Queen of Chaos considered Demogorgon a mistake and cast him aside, where he lay forgotten. Innate Spellcasting:Demogorgon’s spellcasting ability is charisma (spell save DC 23). He can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components: The name Of the Abyss could be a reference to Dungeons and Dragons - 5th Edition, since its Demogorgon appears as an enemy in an adventure titled "Out of the Abyss".
Blood Detection: The Demogorgon was strongly attracted to blood and could sense even small amounts from different dimensions. Demogorgon is first mentioned in the commentary on Statius's Thebaid [3] often attributed in manuscripts to a Lactantius Placidus, (c. 350–400 AD). The Lactantius Placidus commentary became the most common medieval commentary on the poem by Statius and is transmitted in most early editions up to 1600. [4] The commentary has been attributed incorrectly to a different Lactantius, the Christian author Lucius Caelius Firmianus Lactantius, even though the commentator appears to have been Mithraic. [5]Demogorgon can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The only reason his plan to annihilate all of creation inside a roiling vortex of entropy and carnage hasn’t already worked is that his attention is split. The animatronic head consisted of 26 motors, and the noise they produced often made hearing directions difficult for Steger.
