About this deal

The Phil-A-Ment print came out great with good overhang quality, but again, significant ringing can be seen on some sections of the model. Other than that, the extrusion quality is nice, and it’s a good print. The Ender 5 is a larger and better version of the Ender 3 Pro. It is engineered with a magnetic heated bed, an 8-mm-rod for the Z-axis, a dual Y-axis engine, and a dedicated stepper motor for each of the axes. It features an auto-resume function aimed at preventing printing failures due to power loss. This lets you complete your print jobs at any time. The Ender 5 can print as fast as 80mm/s without affecting the quality of the model. It features a build area of 220 x 220 x 300mm. The old Ender 5 had some issues with the bed which was sagging and needed supports underneath to keep the bed parallel to the print head. While the Ender 5 S1 comes with 12 mm steel rods to ensure the stiffness of the bed, the main issue is with the overall weight of the bed and the metallic support which is used not being very stiff.

Both the Ender 3 V2 and Ender 5 Pro have Creality’s silent V.4.2.2 mainboards charged with the heavy lifting under the hood. As for firmware versions, the Ender 3 V2 has Marlin 2.0 pre-installed, while the Ender 5 Pro comes with Marlin 1.8. Much like it did with the jump from the Ender 3 to the Ender 3 Pro, Creality took the core experience and feature-set of the Ender 5 and injected several choice upgrades to create the Ender 5 Pro. This printer is very much a souped-up replacement for the original, with only a slight premium tagged on. UpFitters Ender 3 Enclosure – A premium option for 3D UpFitters, this enclosure features see-through panels and an array of optional add-ons. There’s an Ender 3 version and Ender 5 version available.Filament Sensor: When the filament runs out or disconnected, the Creality Ender-5 Plus 3D Printer will automatically be suspended to ensure the model can be smoothly printed.

The Ender 5 S1 has a direct drive with a reverse Bowden tube to guide filament up from a side mounted spool holder. To load filament you need to first trim the end of the plastic at a 45-degree angle – a pointy end feeds through the gears better. The Ender 5 Plus is the larger printer of the Ender 5’s family. It has a build area of 350 x 350 x 400 mm. The bigger print bed is supported by four rods and two lead screws, while the Ender 5 only adopts two rods. This enhances the overall stability of the Z-axis. Unlike single gantry printers, each of the three axes of the Ender-5 S1 is driven by a powerful high precision stepper motor, providing robust and reliable operations for maximum productivity.

With my new profile loaded, I tweaked the speed settings to rather faster than I use for the Ender 3. I set the basic print speed at 150mm/s – three times what I normally run at – and adjusted the others accordingly. Then I sliced the Benchy and loaded it into the Ender 5 S1. The board used on the Creality Ender-5 S1 is quite similar to other boards used in the S1 line. It has an ARM STM32F401 CPU and silent stepper drivers. It’s also worth noting that the cables have ferrules pre-installed which are nice to see. Creality seems well aware of this, which is why we’ve seen the newer Ender models, specifically the Ender 3 S1 and Neo lines-up fitted with CR Touch probes for automatic bed leveling. On the right side of the printer, an LCD display attached to the gantry lets you directly operate the device. The rotating dial lets you navigate the menu and select the printing settings in just a few steps. CR Touch Pre-Installed: Creality Ender-5 Plus 3D printer with CR Touch as configured. You just plug them in and start printing! It can precisely measure the tilt of the Bed surface, offers automatic compensation for the Z-axis for unevenness of the platform plate, easy to solve the printing failure caused by the unevenness of the platform and provide reliable operation with all build surfaces. The precise linear rail on the X-axis has a carriage slide containing ball bearings, making each move accurate, steady, and frictionless (0.04 friction coefficient). Larger than the Ender 3 3D printers, the Ender 5 measures 552 x 485 x 510 mm and features a print area of 220 x 220 x 300mm (50mm higher than the Ender 3 build area). Its net weight is 11.8 kg.

Petsfang– A go-to design for many tinkerers looking for an Ender 3 and Ender 5 cooling fan upgrade. As far as accessories go, the printer comes with all the tools you’ll need to build it. There are a selection of Allen keys – not as nice as the ones that came with the Ender 3, which have ball heads for working at fiddly angles, but still perfectly functional – a screwdriver and a couple of stamped metal spanners. You also get a nozzle cleaning needle, side cutters for snipping filament, and a spatula for getting stubborn prints off the build surface. There’s a also a full-sized SD card loaded with a couple of models and a PDF of the manual, a USB adapter for it, and a supply of filament to get you started. This was a step up from the usual loose coil you get with a new printer; the Ender 5 S1 comes with a proper 250g spool of white PLA. There's no doubt the Creality Ender-5 S1 is a big step up from the Ender-5. This is a completely overhauled machine with so many additions that help dramatically boost the printer's performance. The Ender 5 Pro extra 50 mm on the Z-axis gives you a bit more room to print taller objects. Max Nozzle and Bed Temperature Our firmware does NOT use Marlin Auto Build. Do not use Marlin Auto Build with our firmware. Use the directions below instead. Multiple CPU Support (If Applicable) # Should you really want to experiment with exotic and more demanding materials, there’s also the Ender 3 S1 Pro, which offers a 300°C max nozzle temperature alongside the same 110°C maximum bed temperature. Filament Compatibility Behind the extruder, we get a 5015 radial fan which is also super nice to see as Creality usually includes lower-power fans that can’t cool the layers fast enough to support faster printing speeds. But a beefy fan is not enough if the fan ducts are not good, so the Ender-5 S1 comes with a 3D-printed air duct that directs the airflow of the fan right to the nozzle.
