Although Gyrobot was upgraded again in 2016 with the intention of entering Series 9, it has still yet to reappear in combat. If you craft a bot at Excellent quality, then later your skill increases enough that you're able to craft those bots at Artisan quality, you can spend scrap to upgrade Excellent->Artisan. This applies to all different quality levels, one step at a time.

There is a robot listed in the Honourable Mentions of the Combat Robot Hall of Fame, by the name of Gyrobot. However, it is not this machine, nor is it related, as it is an antweight class machine. If you get Tinkering to Legendary level, it says you can repair anything! Not true though, see the repair section. Gyrobot has occasionally been on display at the Museum of Computing in Swindon. It currently resides in Steve Wood's garage.
In 2017, Team Gyrobot built an antweight called Vibrant, which was an invertible 'brushbot' using no wheels, and was armed with twin horizontal bar spinners. In 2002, Gyrobot would compete in the 2002 Roaming Robots event at Gaydon, competing in at least one match as it faced both S3 and Kan-Opener in a melee. It lost this match after being pitted by Kan-Opener, who would eventually go on to win the battle. it's a great way to manage the loads of useless gear you find scattered throughout Barony. All weapons (except quivers), armor, staffs, magic books/scrolls, gems/glass, and even tins of food can be salvaged. Salvage 'em to free up inventory space and get something useful from them.If Gyrobot had qualified for Series 9, its 40kg rim would have been the heaviest weapon in the series.
