About this deal

Many schools work with the local vicar and other church members to plan and deliver acts of worship that are invitational, reflective and engaging. There is plenty of flexibility in the provision of collective worship to enable all pupils to benefit without compromising their beliefs. It's also important to model this. Your team should be able to look to you for what’s appropriate for the platform. Make sure you’re walking the talk.

This post was originally published May 29, 2019. It has been updated for Summer 2023. June + July + August x Worship Ministry = 🙁

Discover how to rotate and manage your songs so your church sings more and your team can practice less.

Schools should also intentionally ensure that Collective Worship enables pupils and adults to flourish spiritually. (SIAMS 2023 – IQ3)

Also, if there are parts of the bike that are not working properly or cohesively, that bike journey is going to be tough, and you may not get far. Likewise, for our worship teams, if everyone on the team is an expert at their instrument and has amazing skill, but they don’t have purity of heart, humility, or integrity, that team won't be able to take the church anywhere. If your worship team is going to lead others into praise & worship, you need to be able to play each song in each worship set in the moment, without worrying about making mistakes and wondering, “What could go wrong?”

Paul encouraged the Christians in Thessalonica who are concerned about what will happened to those who have died before Jesus’ return. They have nothing to worry about. Challenge: Borrow or read a story from a children’s Bible, you could start with a story from Jesus’ life, or Mark’s Gospel. If you don’t own a Bible, you can find one at your local library or at your school. In the starting stages of your worship team, it’s important that you only choose a few “core” songs that you’ll practice and play regularly. Isaiah prophesied 500+ years before the birth of Jesus. It was a dark period of history for the Jewish people, many were in exile in Babylon, but Isaiah brings them a message of hope.

Attending and not leading is essential. And if it means the quality of the worship service might suffer some, so be it. You need the perspective of the congregation again. Jesus tells his followers that they don’t know when he will return but they should be ready and alert). Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas. It is a time to remember the first coming of Jesus, when he was born as a baby in Bethlehem and to look forward to his second coming when everyone will recognise him and all injustice, sadness and suffering will cease. Christians today live in the time between his first and second coming, but he has left with gifts to celebrate; grace, peace, knowledge of God, fellowship with Him and each other and gifts from the Holy Spirit. Besides serving the congregation, this new song moratorium has a side benefit: your band won’t need to invest as much time into practicing this summer. Paul reminds the Christians in Rome to love others as you love yourself. Love is at the heart of God’s law and should guide people in how they live and relate to each other.

Birmingham City Centre (Exchange Square) -6 Exchange Square,The Priory Queensway, Birmingham,B4 6FY A great way to gradually transition someone into a worship leader role is to give them the opportunity to lead a song during rehearsals and practice sessions. See how they do, what can be improved, and how you can help them. But don’t kill yourself trying to get everyone together at one. If a big event is impossible, look for ways to connect socially with individuals or small groups within your team. Spend time with your team members off of the platform. Plan one or two outings where you invite all the team members, like mini-golf, go-karts, outdoor concerts, etc.If you run a larger band with multiple guitarists or keyboardists, strip down to a power trio (bass, drums, guitar) or four-piece combo. If everyone plays their part, you’ll still have great sound. [ Recommended Resource: Arranging Essentials for the Worship Musician] The key to this parable is to be faithful with what God has given, the parable warns that those who do nothing will find themselves with nothing. You’re not observing to copy them, but to find examples and models of what might work in your context. Absolutely. In the planning guide are some ideas to look ahead to the following summer. Depending on when you find this resource, it might be too late to try some of these ideas. But you can start to prepare to try them next summer. The example of Katherine G. Johnson who used her skills in mathematics working for NASA to get the first men to the moon. https://www.presbyterianmission.org/story/real-life-hidden-figures-mathematician-longtime-presbyterian/
