Strong and full-bodied red wines develop their aromas between 15°C - 18°C. Whilst, white wines require a slightly lower storage temperature between 11°C - 14°C. Rosé wines are stored optimally in a wine fridge at a temperature between 7°C - 12°C. Champagne is also stored along with the wine supply, and sparkling wines require a temperature between 5°C - 7°C. If you want a more modern look, maybe for an open plan apartment type interior, then the Cookology design with the smaller window can blend into an open plan kitchen. A wine fridge does need adequate ventilation and shouldn’t be installed under a countertop unless it’s designed for this use. Built-in wine fridges generally have front-facing ventilation but if they don’t have this feature then make sure it has adequate space for airflow around it. For an overall excellent wine fridge ideal for mid-sized collectors, the Frigidaire FRWW2432AV 24-Bottle Wine Cooler wins our top spot, thanks to its stylish look and easy-to-use display. For a lower-priced alternative, we recommend the Wine Enthusiast 6-Bottle Wine Cooler, a small but convenient fridge that runs very quietly.

The Dunavox DAUF-32.78DB, is a 400mm wine cooler from Dunavox, is offered as an built in or under counter model. Two independent compartments maintain temperatures of 10°C - 18°C and 5°C - 10°C, respectively, providing optimal storage space for up to 32 Bordeaux bottles. This wine fridge is an ideal way to preserve and enjoy your preferred vintages. Swisscave WL455DF - Dual Zone - Wine Fridge Thermoelectric fridges are very quiet and efficient. They are a great option to have a living area and don’t vibrate and make a loud noise. They are not as effective as compressor fridges at cooling down to lower temperatures so generally not ideal for light white wines, sparkling wine, and champagne. Climate class: To ensure that the wine cooler always cools reliably, the ambient temperature is also important. The climate class of a wine cooler indicates in which ambient temperature the appliance can optimally cool its contents.

Although the terms “wine cooler” and “wine fridge” are often used interchangeably, there are some key differences between the two devices. Wine fridges are units that provide temperature consistency and humidity control to ensure long-term wine storage, and many of them are large enough to house a few dozen bottles that may not be taken out for months or years. At an A-class energy rating, it’s efficient to run and the thermoelectric cooling is very quiet to run. This fridge only reaches a peak of 33db which is extremely quiet but the downside with this system is that the lowest temperature is 10 degrees celsius. You do need to transfer white and sparkling wine to a colder fridge before serving. Ideally, you shouldn't store unopened bottles of white wine in a regular fridge other than 1-2 hours prior to needing a bottle, just to cool it down to the ideal temperature.

Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and even some unoaked styles of Chardonnay fall into this category. This means that you can leave your bottles in there for long periods of time without having to worry about them getting too cold. Prior to drinking chill desert wines in a wine fridge at 5˚C - 7˚C or 50°F - 55 °F for the best tasting experience. How Long Does Sparkling Wine Last In The Fridge?Dark, vibration-free, cool storage space for your favourite bottles to perserve their quality. All these at a relatively low cost. Generally an unopened bottle of wine can last between 1-5+ years without expiring and going bad but we recommend that unopened wines are stored in wine fridges rather than regular kitchen fridges as the temperature in a normal fridge is too cold for wine for more than a week. The glass doors with internal lighting make a display cabinet type appearance for your wine collection which can look really classy in a dining room or bar area. Wooden shelving also adds a lot of class or you can choose the sleek chrome shelves which make more of a feature of the wine bottles. This slight overlap of features and functions can lead to confusion when deciding whether to opt for a wine cooler or cabinet.
