Description

If you are a fan of the Remnant trilogy this book should now be placed at the top of your TBR. The new characters we meet, Kazi and Jase, are adorable and strong, and work so amazingly well together. We see our old favourites and learn what has happened the last 6 years since the Great Battle. Honestly I was a little hesitant going into this book. I loved the Remnant trilogy and was nervous to read about new characters but I loved them just as much, if not more than the previous ones. And of course, Jase and Kazi. I love them so much! They are one of my all-time favorite couples, everything they go through and what they have to overcome is so layered and earned. They feel like true equals which is so rare. I don't know when I'll be able and in the mood to read the sequel, but I'm definitely going to re-read this one before I dive into the second book. That's how much I liked Dance of Thieves. I haven't loved a fantasy romance in a while! Dance of Thieves definitely gives me Gondor (LoTR) vibes throughout. There are fierce families and a tight-knit kingdom of people surviving in a world of fantasy creatures - but also somewhat medieval vibes? This whole book was just incredibly well done. THE BIG QUESTION: Will I read the next book?>>>>YES!! I'm also considering reading the prequel series! I think Pearson's writing style is just too good. So much happens, but I love the dark and smokey atmosphere of adventure. I never got bored!!

Waiting for someone else to write your history was no way to live. Sometimes it was only a certain way to die.”

Jase has just become Patrei after his father passed away, he’s basically king of his country. He knows that many of his father’s enemies won’t be too happy that he’s in charge now and when he sees Kazi causing a bit of mischief in his town, he gets curious. Though, it’s his curiosity that will be his doom for it’s not long after they meet that both Kazi and Jase are kidnapped by slave laborers to be taken to who-knows-where to be forced to work in harsh conditions until the keel over. Naturally, this idea doesn’t make either of them happy and Kazi manages to free herself, Jase, and the other prisoners…only they didn’t get themselves unchained before losing the keys. It's rare that the second book in a series is as good–or perhaps better–than the first, but that's the case here. . . . Anticipation for the next volume will start as soon as this one is put down." — Booklist, starred review

The novel is so focused on Kazi and Jase, however, that it relegates most of its supporting cast to brief mentions and broad stereotypes. Kazi’s fellow Rahtan warriors and Jase’s sisters would have been particularly interesting to spend more time with. (Maybe we can see more of them in the sequel?) The Dance of Thieves series was written after the Remnant Chronicles but is a separate series set in the kingdoms of the Remnant. You can read it independently or read it after the Remnant series. What is the Dance of Thieves Series Age Rating? Sooo I didn't really like The Remnant Chronicles by this same author, but everyone seems to have loved this spin-off series so I decided to give it a try. Thank god I did because this first book was really amazing!

There was a purity and honesty in the characters that I don’t see or comment on very often, which I felt made this an excellent choice for young adults. Lots of kissing – no sex, some swear words but no offensive language. Tame but still really interesting. So very well written in all. Molti di voi probabilmente non conosceranno i libri di Mary E. Pearson. Questo perché non sono mai stati pubblicati in Italia, e trovo anche che lei sia tra le più sottovalutate scrittrici di young adults. Lo scorso anno ho divorato l'intera trilogia delle "Remnant Chronicles", di cui "The Kiss of Deception" è il primo romanzo. p.8 • "It helped me see myself better—the impossible choice of a fleeting moment—the regrets we bury deep within us, the things we would do differently if only we could have one more chance, if only we could rewind a moment like a card of yarn and weave it into something else… One different choice might have changed everything."Never at any point did I really care a lot about the characters. I liked them but, it’s hard to explain, not that much? Un nuovo romanzo ambientato nell’universo della serie Remnant Chronicles, in cui un ladro riformato e un giovane leader di una dinastia non riconosciuta si scontrano in una battaglia che potrebbe costare loro la vita – e i loro cuori. Kazi discovers Wren and Synové at Hell’s Mouth and convinces Jase to lodge them and stop tailing her. She looks for Illarion at Tor’s Watch, while Jase meets with Garvin, Kazi’s tail, who is attempting to remember her prior identity. Kazi gets bitten by the venomous dogs of the Ballengers, but she hides it from Jase until she loses consciousness. Jase is perplexed as to what she was doing. He shows her the family vault, which she says she was seeking for and which indicates his ancestors created the continent’s first empire. Mary created the perfect ending, and even though it hearts my heart to say good-bye to my favorite characters, I can say they inspired me so much, and I will never forget the messages they conveyed. They will be forever imprinted on my heart.
