Episode 5 –For episode five the theme was children’s garments. The challenges included making a romper suit, an Under the Sea-themed fancy dress outfit from wet suits and a made-to-measure child’s raincoat. Find the sewing patterns used by the contestants here. The location of the Sewing Bee studio used to be in London at the Metropolitan Wharf in Bermondsey, but in 2021 the production moved up North to Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds. The 2021 Festive Specials and Season 8 have been filmed at this new location. Brogan started sewing after watching the first series of the Sewing Bee as a child, loves to make clothes for her sausage dog Roger and enjoys replicating high street garments (including adding tiers, ruffles or a frill!) Fauve is also a top golfer, who has represented Wales in the Home Nationals. She only started sewing five years ago when she joined a sewing class and made a peg bag. At the home she shares with her mum, dad, brother and nan, she has a small ‘sewing cupboard’ where she makes puff sleeved feminine dresses.Originally from Costa Rica, Maria is a self-taught stitcher and sews to her to unwind after a stressful shift in A&E.She also dabbles in leatherwork and has a passion for making handbags and purses.Maria lives with her partner Tony and, because they both enjoy gardening, she’s nowattempting to make waterproof cushions for her garden furniture. So far we know that there was a call out for Sewing Bee contestants to apply for the new TV series last year and also that it was filmed in Autumn 2021. Episode 9– In the eighth episode there are four contestants remaining, after we sadly said goodbye to Mark in week eight. The sewing bee theme for week nine is the silver screen! Man Yee was taught to sew by her aunt when she wanted to dress an an anime character from Comic Con. She enjoys going indoor climbing with her friends and her home is filled with over 50 plants. Sewing Bee Episode 7 Guide (semi-final) – This week was all about puzzling patterns pattern cutting. The first task was to sew a asymmetric skirt inspired by Japanese pattern cutting. In the refashioning challenge, the contestants has to create a garment from a duvet and use all the fabric. In the final challenge, the contestants had to draft their own pattern and fit it to a model. Episode 6 –For episode six the theme was Reduce, Reuse and Recycle where all the materials available were sourced from charity shops. The challenges included making a gentleman’s waistcoat, a woman’s garment from Army surplus and a made-to-measure dress from jeans. Find the sewing patterns used by the contestants here. Episode 9 –In the seventh episode of The Great British Sewing Bee series 9 the contestants are challenged with Japanese Design and Sewing Week. There will also be ten episodes, with some of the challenges including sewing rugby shirts, flamenco skirts and palazzo pants! Aged from 24 to 64, this year’s contestants include a teacher, paramedic, doctor, jewellery designer, student, bank and youth hostel manager.
