I was a close friend of Jeff, his older brother Mike, and his mother in the early 60's and 70's. Growing up in Santa Cruz I also knew John the drummer when he played with Corney and the Corvettes. I have many good memories of listening to those guys practicing and having a great time. I have always wondered how their lives went. RIP Jeff, you were a stand-up guy.Iris Paulsen

Vorlage:Cite web/temporär Three performances from the Performance Series of the archives were released individually before The Archives Vol. 1. Live at the Fillmore East, a selection of songs from a 1970 gig with Crazy Horse, was released in 2006. Live at Massey Hall 1971, a solo acoustic set from Toronto's Massey Hall, saw release in 2007. Sugar Mountain - Live at Canterbury House 1968, an early solo performance and, chronologically, the first disc in the performance series, emerged late in 2008. Yes, it's a real shame that Jeff didn't live to hear this release. Maybe when it does get released, some sort of note can be appended? or maybe that window will get missed also.he makes the decision that it won’t happen to him: “So I got bored and left them there, they were just deadweight to me/Better down the road without that load.” In 2003, Rolling Stone listed Young as eighty-third in its ranking of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" (although in a more recent version of the list, he has been moved up to seventeenth place), describing him as a "restless experimenter...who transform[s] the most obvious music into something revelatory." [128 ] Young is a collector of second-hand guitars, but in recording and performing, he frequently uses just a few instruments, as is explained by his longtime guitar technician Larry Cragg in the film Neil Young: Heart of Gold. They include: While Young had never been a stranger to eco-friendly lyrics, themes of environmentalist spirituality and activism became increasingly prominent in his work throughout the 1990s and 2000s, especially on Greendale (2003) [87 ] and Living with War (2006). [88 ] The trend continued on 2007's Chrome Dreams II, with lyrics exploring Young's personal eco-spirituality. [89 ] Also in 2007, Young accepted an invitation to participate in Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino, contributing his version of " Walking to New Orleans".

Live Rust is a live album by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, recorded during their fall 1978 Rust Never Sleeps tour. The acoustic portions of the album including, "My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)", "Thrasher" and "Ride My Llama" were recorded live in San Francisco at the Boarding House between May 24 and 28, 1978. Two songs from the album were not recorded live: "Sail Away" was recorded without Crazy Horse during or after the Comes a Time recording sessions, [11] and "Pocahontas" had been recorded solo in 1976 [11] (original recording without overdubs was released in 2017 on archival release Hitchhiker).

The lyrics, "It's better to burn out than fade away", were widely quoted by his peers and by critics. [12] [16] In a 1980 interview with David Sheff from Playboy magazine, John Lennon was dismissive of the lyric and the song's reference to Johnny Rotten for what he interpreted as worship for the dead saying, "No, thank you. I’ll take the living and the healthy." [17] [18] In 1994, Kurt Cobain quoted the lyric in his suicide note. [19] Boehm, Mike (August 12, 1989). "O.C. On September 25, 2012 Young's autobiography Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippie Dream was released to critical and commercial acclaim. [115 ] Reviewing the book for the New York Times, Janet Maslin reported that Young chose to write his memoirs in 2012 for two reasons. For one, he needed to take a break from stage performances for health reasons but continue to generate income. For another, he feared the onset of dementia, considering his father's medical history and his own present condition. Maslin gives the book a higher than average grade, describing it as frank but quirky and without pathos as it delves into his relationships and his experience in parenting a child with disabilities as well as his artistic and commercial activities and associations.
