Carrie discloses to Matthew she is just nervous about being with his family for the Christmas holiday. Matthew consoles her, while sitting, by saying she'll fit in with his family. Shortly after, they are joined by Sheena, and she says there is still more to be done in preparation for dinner. Sheena and Matthew share jokes which makes Carrie uncomfortable for not being in on the jokes. Near the end of the scene, Sheena discloses she would rather be in this household for Christmas than her own home.

It was... born out of learning about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I'd had lots of it, and I'd wanted to write about it for a long time. And.. and also a sort of love of... em... family comedies and... dinner-party farces. I'd seen lots of them, and I'd seen them in films, and I'd seen them on TV, and I'd seen them at the theater before, and I... wondered whether or not there could be a marriage between what- the- the- the sort of well-told of the families in a party farce that we're all quite familiar with, and whether or not I could deconstruct that in any way, or... or explain that in any way through Cognitive Behavioral techniques... And I wondered whether there was- I- as an ambition for a play, could I bring together a family and assign each one of them a personality trait or rule, and an underlying core belief that they might be struggling with, and if they lived by that rule throughout the course of the drama very strictly, would they rub up against each other, would they set each other off, would we end up in the inevitable... em... climax of the family dinner party as we've come to expect it, and would I be able to marry the two? [1] CBT therapists start with a formulation which is a diagram that links the past, where thoughts and behaviour were learned to the present day. It depicts how thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physical sensations act in ways that reinforce each other leading to a vicious circle. Someone who uses avoidance to keep managing their anxiety may just keep repeating the same coping pattern. The formulation is used as the start of therapy for both depression and anxiety. The outcome of an appeal is final. If you want to appeal, we strongly recommend you seek independent, specialised legal advice. The British Embassy cannot get involved in individual immigration applications and we cannot provide legal advice. I was burnt out at work and my relationship had just ended after four years. I felt depressed, as if I had failed at life. I always gave 110%, I’d always tried to do everything perfectly at work and never wanted to let anyone down, even if it meant saying yes to extra work even when I was already overwhelmed. This meant that I had little time for my partner or my friends, but I worried that if I said no, my boss would think I wasn’t up to the job. Once, I got a 3 out of 5 on one of my competencies in my appraisal, and I felt like I was a complete failure. As a result, I worked even harder, and I worried about making mistakes or getting things wrong: I was always putting myself down.

Useful information Research studies have shown that Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective treatments for low self-esteem [2]. CBT therapists work a bit like firefighters: while the fire is burning they’re not so interested in what caused it, but are more focused on what is keeping it going, and what they can do to put it out. This is because if they can work out what keeps a problem going, they can treat the problem by interrupting this maintaining cycle. A psychologist called Melanie Fennell developed an influential cognitive behavioral model of low self-esteem [3]. Dr Fennell’s model says that:You can apply for or renew your British passport from Spain. The British Embassy does not issue passports. If you are planning to move to Spain and work, you must apply for the appropriate visa. Application processing times vary and you should only make travel arrangements once your visa has been issued. Sheena says they got her one, but they forgot it.
