About this deal

Ash was an enigma for her, the crazy bad boy that she couldn't stay away from, even though she was trying to... Close to me is told in two parts, real-time and snippets of the past year, though it has a slow build this is not a bad thing as you get to understand Jo's life and how she is the person she is. Ma. Reynolds has something to say and I look forward to her future works. In CLOSE TO ME she blows the door wide open on familial issues: indifference in relationships, the solitary life couples lead once they are empty nesters, realizing the family glue is the children and no effort has been taken to preserve the first love. Strong, thought provoking messages, unraveled in a tragic setting, but is is an important read. Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

OW faked her pregnancy, almost burned h's house down and apparently she was crazy, y'all know the drill. So this was a great psychological read, it kept my interest and pulled me in, the writing was superb, and the storyline very easy to follow.

I liked the family drama portions much more than the mystery element (did she fall or was she pushed) especially the relationship Rob and Jo have with their two children, growing pains for everyone as they leave home and make questionable choices. A slight lyric change is found in the line "Just like the old man in that book by Nabokov" (the word 'famous' was added). A new music video was produced for the reworked song by Godley and Creme, notable for its early use of animated computer graphics. The version of the song used on the music video was subtly different to the version released as the single. It was approximately 6 seconds shorter, with a longer atmospheric break before the first lyric, but part of the chorus edited out towards the end. This version is only available on the music video; it has never been separately released as an audio recording. the whole book takes place in high school but there's 2 parts of the book. the first part focuses more on freshman to junior year and the second part is all about senior year. While the story line is good/intriguing, I was confused by the timeline that switched between Before the fall (with different increments of the months) and After the fall. I felt like I was reading different versions of the same events over and over. I also felt the story was being told by Jo, but I wasn't experiencing it. I was never pulled in or interested in finding out the truth.

Oh, and what are we to make of the fact that Jo seems to be menopausal? As Chekhov said: don’t leave an oestrogen deficiency providing a host of symptoms including dizziness, brain fog and paranoia on the mantelpiece in the first act if you’re not going to exploit them in the third.Close To Me by Monica Murphy is an enemies to lovers, standalone new adult, high school romance full of emotion, drama, angst, amazing chemistry, and fabulous banter! This story is about Drew and Fable Callahan’s daughter from the One Week Girlfriend series all grown up. This book takes you along for the journey of Ash and Autumn’s turbulent, love/hate relationship through four years of high school. I really loved this story, and getting more of Drew and Fable as well. I adore the Callahan’s and hope we get more books for the other siblings too! First off I love romance novels that continue with the next generation of love. In this book we get Drew and Fable’s children taking us on the roller coaster of emotions. Autumn is daddy’s princess, try as she might to have him see her as more. Autumn’s character is what I pictured her to be, a perfect blend of her mother’s strength and her father’s goodness and both of their kindness and goodness. I can’t wait to see how her siblings are!!

I did kind of guess where this was going but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment reading this.Forget about solving all these crimes; the signal triumph here is (spoiler) the heroine’s survival. Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. The book plot reads: " When Jo Harding falls down the stairs at home, she wakes up in hospital with partial amnesia - she's lost a whole year of memories. A lot can happen in a year. Was Jo having an affair? Lying to her family? Starting a new life? This is definitely more of a "diving inside the mind of the character" type mystery. It's a slow burning mystery/thriller and I felt that Reynolds did a good job pulling me along through the novel. What happened to Jo? I couldn't imagine not knowing what happened for a year of my life and having everyone around me feel foreign. I know that this won't be for everyone - if you're looking for a fast-paced thriller then this won't fit the bill. However, if you like the slow build of tension with a faster paced ending, then you'll have to grab this debut! but yeah, the H had a fling with this OW weeks before he and h got together and apparently they only had sex three times and he basically used her cuz he was lonely and he was upset that the h hadn't talked to him after her break up with the OM, and a part of him wanted her to be jealous *eyeroll*.

Meanwhile, Sasha – Jo and Rob’s daughter – is nothing more than a spoilt, self-centred brat! She gets everything she wants, throws a tantrum when she doesn’t and is seemingly happy to go along with deceiving Jo on the basis she gets a nice flat out of it. Her boyfriend is, unsurprisingly, not approved of by her parents who see him as nothing more than a passing fancy. He’s not like them, so therefore he must be ‘trouble’ and certainly not good enough for their precious daughter. In reality they’re perfect for each other, both being self-centred, smug individuals who genuinely seem to think they’re above everyone else. I quite liked Close To Me, read it fast, but I have to say these are all becoming a little bit samey. Autumn was in a way his obseesion.... He was trying really hard to stay away from her, but at the same time, he couldn't....

Diaries & Calendars

Sting was asked to perform on Dire Straits’ " Money for Nothing" as he was in Montserrat at the time, and accidentally reused the melody from "Don't Stand So Close to Me" in the counterpoint lyric "I want my MTV." It was only after this story was relayed to reporters during promotions for the Brothers in Arms album that lawyers for Sting became involved, and later copies of the album co-credit the song to Sting. The initial pressings list only Mark Knopfler. And the best part from the entire scene is Autumn getting angry at HIM because he told her about it and then proceeds to leave.
