The majority of their communication was so honest and open (which I loved) especially on Wills end like yess we love a man who can ACTUALLY communicate. At first it did feel like insta love but I still ate it up as it didn’t feel cringey to me like most. Even the required moment of conflict for every romance book fit perfectly for the tone of the book and wasn’t crazy dramatic.

She asked him the question she had been asking herself for the past few days. "Why are you being so nice to me now?"Sarah is my all time favorite comfort author, i absolutely adore every book of hers that i’ve read and this time was no different! i seriously cannot remember the last time i had this much fun with reading a book 🥹 I don’t think I like the word regret. Every choice I’ve made had been valuable in some way or other.” More praise for Sarah Adams' rom-coms, including The Cheat Sheet - the heartwarming friends-to-lovers romance that became a sensation on TikTok - and When in Rome. There is so much to love about Practice Makes Perfect. You have a great small-town romance with adorable side characters, a strong family and a great friend. You have a really fun relationship coach storywhere the hottie bodyguard signs up to “teach” the sweet flower shop owner how to be comfortable on dates who ends up giving her all her firsts. Another annoyance besides the fact that Annie just irritated and frustrated the living stoof out of me is that she would have dialogue that came OUT OF NOWHERE. It was like the author had mapped out these “scenes” and would just jump to them like a squirrel who got distracted by too many nuts. And you're just like, where did this come from? What are we talking about? Who, what, where, how? ALLL THE RELATIVE PRONOUNS! I call BS on this man and on this story. The rant to follow is full of spoilers... you were warned. But still, Practice Makes Perfect was a funny, romantic, sexy, slow-burn, and swoon-inducing novel, and it's a major plus point that there's a huge Pride and Prejudice influence here, although it's not what I'd call a re-telling. pile, disassemble, reverse engineer, reproduce, modify, create derivative works based upon, transmit, distribute, disseminate, sell, publish or sublicense thePractice makes Perfect is written in 3rd person narration but mostly focused on our two main characters; Payton Kendall and J.D. Jameson. Both are lawyers who work at the same firm, they’ve been working together for 8 years but never got along, scratch that, they hated each other’s guts. As in the I hate you, I want to tear off your clothes kind of way. Well the only redeeming thing about this book is that I realized in hindsight I could count the terrible thing towards Kill Your Darlings. There is something silver on the cover, the douche-bag hero's cuff-link. Bah to this terrible book. I think this bled into another aspect I didn’t like. I want my female main characters to be feisty and be able to stand up for themselves. But she needs to do it for her, and it needs to be driven BY HER… Why is it that this man that she's with is the first person to see who she is and the first person that she can “actually” talk to, WHEN SHE IS SO CLOSE TO HER FAMILY, I wanted her to find herself, and not meet a man as the catalyst to find herself. I'm all for woman empowerment and not being rescued. And it felt like she could only be her true self when she found a guy! And wasn’t able to be herself without him.

The sexual tension between Payton and J.D. was really hot, the romantic aspect worked well and (thank you so much Ms James) no insta-love! In fact, at the start of the book they pretty much hated each other... well, in the way two hot lawyers competing for the same job position hate each other (i.e. "I hate you so much I want to rip your clothes off"). By the way, J.D. is hot. He's got the whole naughty thing going on without being a complete ass, he made me laugh, he wears a suit *sigh*... and he has short hair, no fangs and isn't called Raphael, Vishous or Angel. Finally!Florist Annie Walker is determined to find someone who complements her life. But after overhearing her latest date describe her as 'so unbelievably boring', Annie wonders if the problem might be her. Is it too late to become flirtatious and fun like the leading ladies in her favourite romance movies? Maybe she only needs some practice . . . and Annie has the perfect tutor in mind. This book is more a 3.75 stars, but since it gets harder and harder to find a pleasant contemporary read I'm giving it my 4 stars." He does get nicer (A LOT) but I was not convinced that the leopard had changed his spots by the end of the book – in fact I wasn’t even sure that he really believed he had spots, and still less sure that he understood the need to change them.

I AM ALSO DONE with reading about first experiences, first loves, FIRST ANYTHING. It is why I don't typically enjoy reading YA anymore. I like characters who have already “found themselves” but have gotten slightly lost along the way and need to be re-directed on the right path. In this book, this main character, was very much a pure angel. She was a virgin, had never really dated, hardly been kissed and just felt like she went on the whole “first journey” of everything where it’s all sparkles, sunshine and rainbows... a lot of firsts that just didn't appeal to me. As a result, I found that I connected a lot more with Will. He seemed a little bit more “damaged" and in need of help with scars that he had to work through. Annie’s constant use of different names for him and their ability to play off each other was so awesome! Trust yourself. You said you wanted flowers — let's get your damn flowers, Annie." (Key word trust yourself)Add in the fact that every single male character in this book makes some sort of crass/sexist statement at some point…absolutely not. There is better romance out there, and I’ve read it. Women do not have to be the brunt of a joke. And women, I assure you, were more often than not, a joke in this book. accessed through the work.
