Description

With fresh citrus notes of grapefruit, crushed juniper and pink pepper on the nose, and a hit of jammy raspberry and fresh strawberry with a hint of vanilla on the palate, it’s easy to tell that the limited edition Platinum Jubilee gin by the Cotswold Distillery was inspired by classic British summer desserts. In the summer of 2007, King Charles III declared The English Distillery officially open. The dram-loving monarch even took ownership of a few of the maturing casks, making the Norfolk-based distillery one of his preferred English whisky producers. But this is not that time – this is a weekend for street parties, big celebrations, family half-term get-togethers. This is the moment to splash the gin around (adults only and within reason, of course) and for that purpose many of us want to find the best value. Four Sis4ers Distillery director Hayley Robinson said: “King Charles is passionate about the environment, and we are passionate about sustainability – so we thought it would be a great idea to use fruit food waste for this latest gin, to repurpose the strawberries into something special to mark such an iconic occasion.

Four Sis4ers Distillery in Salford has launched a limited-edition fruit-waste strawberry gin to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.The beer continues the brewery’s tradition of creating limited edition ales to celebrate Royal occasions. It joins a distinguished lineage including Celebration Ale which marked Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 and most recently, Royal Salute, which commemorated the Diamond and Platinum Jubilees in 2012 and 2022. To complement the ale, project executive chef Sang Nguyen has created three new limited-edition food dishes with a royal twist that will be available at selected Shepherd Neame pubs across the Coronation weekend. Presented in a dark glass bottle with an eye-catching regal purple and silver label, the Cotswolds Distillery wanted to make a gin with all the depth of flavour and complexity expected of a Cotswolds Distillery gin, but with a delicious summertime twist, creating the perfect combination between classic and contemporary to mark this very special event.

It comes from a specially selected shaved, toasted, and re-charred ex-red wine cask, which offers a rich and intense maturation to the fruity new make spirit, boasting strong notes of toffee, chocolate, and red fruits, as well as a deep colour. The recipe is a combination of flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica. The resulting juniper-led gin is said to have a fruity and robust finish. Shepherd Neame holds Royal Warrants for its flagship Spitfire Amber Ale as well as Grants Morella Cherry Brandy. But if mixology isn’t your thing, then please don’t worry, the flavours of our gins speak for themselves. Perfect to pair with premium Classic mixers and a fruit garnish, from Indian Tonic, lemonade or just a light and refreshing soda water, our gins are expertly crafted to bring out the best flavours from around the world.Distilled at The City of London Distillery, the first and only gin distillery in the heart of London for more than 200 years, Whitley Neill Connoisseur’s Cut Gin is a classic London Dry expression that sits at 47% ABV, letting the rich juniper and citrus notes shine through. Shakespeare Distillery has launched Coronation Gin to coincide with the crowning of King Charles III.

The beer is said to have light caramel notes and a deep golden hue with east Kent Goldings hops adding a spiciness to the citrus and fruit aromas, rounded out with subtle bitterness from a generous hopping of Kentish Challenger. Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame said: “We are delighted to mark this historic occasion, the Coronation of King Charles III, with a special beer. We hope that our customers will enjoy raising a glass to toast such a special occasion.” To mark this extraordinary milestone, The English Whisky Co released a single malt whisky to join its Royal range of whiskies, which are only bottled to mark such special occasions as royal births, marriages, coronations, and jubilees. As such, each collection is always limited edition and highly sought after – and this launch was no exception. A blend of more than 53 rare malt and grain whiskies, the Royal Salute Coronation of King Charles III Edition is a rich and complex expression with notes of fresh redcurrants, dark chocolate praline, and freshly roasted chestnuts, and a palate of sweet figs and fresh ginger leading up to a long and rich finish with a playful spice. The Royal Pie comprises roasted wild mushroom, spinach and butternut squash with wild mushroom sauce, and features a special hand crafted royal crest on its puff pastry lid.

Now, to mark his coronation, The English has unveiled the latest bottling in its Royal range. The Royal range is bottled only on the birth, marriage, coronation or jubilee of those in direct line to the throne. These are rare events that the distillery believes should be celebrated, making the resulting collection of whiskies well worth owning and drinking. The whisky is housed in a Dartington Crystal decanter, tinted in a deep sapphire blue hue, reminiscent of the precious stones set within the Imperial State Crown. In keeping with Royal Salute’s signature style, the decanter is presented in a wooden box inspired by the iconic Westminster Abbey, with details intricately chiselled into the wood, paying tribute to the historic setting of British Coronation ceremonies since 1066. The wine is claimed to be a classic blend of the finest parcels of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from Kent. This complex sparkling wine has been aged on lees for five and a half years before its release now. Described by head winemaker Josh Donaghay-Spire as displaying “complex aromas of ripe apple, fresh red berries and toasted brioche”, this wine is “perfect for grand celebrations”. The liquid is un-peated, floral, complex and created using the original Victorian machinery, paying homage to both past and present by bringing together traditional distilling methods ‘into a world of present significance’. Brewer T&R Theakston is raising a pint in celebration of the seventh coronation in its almost 200-year history with the launch of a special edition beer for King Charles III.Combining flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica, the resulting juniper-led gin has a fruity and robust finish, fit for a king. It is recommended served with Fever-Tree tonic, ice, and a slice of orange. Salford’s Four Sis4ers Distillery has launched a limited edition fruit-waste strawberry gin to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, called Wonky Windsor. This pink gin is made with the fruits of ‘wonky’ British strawberries. It has been distilled in the distillery’s Arnold Holstein copper still, and inspired by King Charles’ love of the environment and passion for sustainability. This English whisky was created using Plumage Archer barley grown on the Highgrove Estate in Gloucestershire, England, and was distilled, matured, and bottled exclusively by the Cotswolds Distillery.
