Boss claims that the battery on the Katana Mini lasts for about 7 hours. In my testing batteries lasted 6-8 hours. While other small, battery-power amps often severely compromise on their sound quality in favour of size, the Katana-Mini has been designed to produce big, full tone that will have plugging in and playing every chance you get. Usability is one thing I really like about this amp. It’s simple and enables you to easily tap into every feature of the amp. Yes the reccomended AC adapter PSB-120 does add some interference that disappears when you touch the strings. I have tried hooking into a ground to the ground screw on the unit that I created in my shed but didn’t solve the problem. Also found this issue went away when you touch the ground screw on the rear. This is not a huge issue really, just slightly annoying…just keep your hands on the strings or metal parts on guitar. I just rest my palm on the bridge of my Stratocaster. This issue isn’t apparent when using batteries. I suggest using rechargeable batteries. Most small practice amps will have a 2-channels that are barely useable. The Katana mini has 3 stunning channels that give you a lovely clean, a hearty overdrive and the all-out Brown Sound for mega gain. That means you can practice any style of music from Jazz to Heavy Metal if you wanted to.

Simple feature but all you needed (im a demanded guy actually, Tone knob only doesnt satisfy me, minimum must have 3-band EQ. It uses plastic everywhere without any fancy appointments. The only off-center addition being a couple of thin plastic strips and the “Boss” logo on the front.All you need to do is set the delay time to zero and crank the level to near-full. Technically, this is a rapid echo that goes on for a long time, but it sounds very similar to reverb. I gave 4 stars for quality because this amp is made 100% out of plastic; solid, hard but still plastic. I also give 4 stars for sound (if you take into account the size of the amp and how it plays than it should be 6 stars). The addition of a basic delay is what makes this amp is nifty to practice with. It gives your tone a little bit more space and makes it that much more pleasing to the ear - especially when you're practicing those Van Halen runs on the Brown channel. For me it is a toy, which plays much better than I would except from the toy of that size. I am using it mainly in my house when I want to play not in the room where my standard amp is standing (i.e. in my son's room when I am putting him to sleep, this amp is perfect for this purpose).The delay is awesome…absolutely trippy and awesome. Who cares if it doesn’t have reverb it has DELAY!!! You can get a reverb pedal…overdrive pedal…whatever. I have heard a lot about Katana's, so I gave this guy a try when I was looking for a practice amp for a small apartment. I was a great surprise!! I could not be more happy. It has a really nice clear sound, and great volume. But what surprised me it was the overdriven sounds. For low volumes, it truly delivers a nice round warm overdriven sound, that makes you enjoy practicing. Its really simple to use, and even have some on-board effects for even more fun while playing.
