About this deal

Have you ever wondered what is the best Mod Podge to use? Can you use Dishwasher safe instead of Outdoor because they are both waterproof? Well, here we compare them and show you the differences. The task at hand Hi Betsy, I suspect that a frame will not protect your poster from getting damp or damaged, mainly because there is nothing ‘sealing’ in the poster. The frame just won’t do much since there is always a way for moisture, dew or anything else to creep in there. If you want to do a ‘test,’ the one thing that comes to mind for me is to use a different framed paper (something you won’t miss if damaged) and: I always “prepare” my fabric before Mod Podging it down. This means I brush medium coat on, let it dry and then cut it to fit the surface. Applying the Mod Podge not only prevents fraying, but also makes the fabric more flexible and easier to adhere to the surface smoothly.

I know . . . I say that about all the formulas. But seriously, this one is perfect when you need a DURABLE finish for any sort of project that might get a little more wear and tear than average. You might have to add extra protection if the item sits outside. You will need to apply an outdoor polyurethane sealer.

Alternately, you may apply Mod Podge® to the area and let it dry completely (to speed up drying, you may use a hairdryer set on low). Then place the Napkin onto the surface in the desired position. Cover the Napkin with a piece of parchment paper and iron (on the cotton setting) to adhere the Napkin to the surface. Allow the parchment paper to cool and then remove. The Mod Podge® will melt and adhere the image to the surface. The advantage of this technique is that you can move the image until you iron it down. Also, the Napkin will not tear or show bubbles, and it will be completely flat like the surface it is on. Again, finish with a coat of Mod Podge® on top. That being said,if your canvas hangs in an area that is especially exposed to the elements (unlike our little walk out which has a bit of protection), and you are a worry wart 😉 then I would advise the following:

You should always wash brushes immediately after Mod Podging. Regular brush cleaner or non-abrasive soap works very well for cleaning brushes. You don’t need to use a new one each time as long as you wash the brushes out thoroughly before anything dries. What should I do if Mod Podge dries in my brush? You can use regular taklon or natural bristle brushes found at your local craft retailer. I use a soft bristled, 1” brush in most instances. Sometimes I go smaller, but the 1” brush works for most of my projects. Will the magazine paper wrinkle? To avoid wrinkling, make sure you cut your paper pieces small as the bigger they are the more are they prone to wrinkle. What you are (essentially) going to do is cut out shapes from something like paper or fabric, and then attach them to a surface. You will use Mod Podge to glue down the shape to the surface. Most of us have plenty of old magazines lying around the house, cluttering up our rooms, taking up unnecessary space, and just collecting dust. If you want a glossy finish to your project, add one tablespoon of water-based varnish. Also, if you want a glitter finish, add two tablespoons of super-fine glitter. Find a clean glass or plastic jar that can hold around 355 ml, and ensure it has a very tight-fitting lid. How do I know WHEN I should use Hard Coat?Well, there’s no hard and fast rule. But I would say if you imagine that the piece will get handled frequently, you should upgrade to this formula from the basic formulas. So what THAT means is that Satin is in between Gloss and Matte. It’s not quite shiny . . . but it’s not flat either.

You can also use a pencil and trace the shape of the object onto the canvas where you want it to be. USE ON MULTIPLE SURFACES – This unique formula works on a variety of surfaces such as wood, paper, canvas, terra cotta, and more - making this a must-have product for all your outdoor arts and crafts! Cure time: 4 weeks

For my purposes, and in my crafts, Mod Podge is pretty permanent. I’ve seen 50 year old projects from the creator of Mod Podge ( Jan Wetstone) that are still going strong. The experts have told me two years if unopened. If opened, it will be about six months to a year. Is Mod Podgefood safe? Can I use it on a plate? Paint with a thin layer of Mod Podge on both sides, then let it dry. Then you can craftas normal. It sounds like a lot of steps, but it’s not that difficult – you just have to make sure it all dries. People make glitter mugs all the time with this medium and they last for a long time after repeated dishwasher runs. Is Mod Podge permanent (since it isn’t waterproof)? I wrote a formula guide that you can find here. I’m on a budget and I can only afford one formula. Which one should I buy?
