About this deal

In Cinebench R23 running at a 45W configuration, in the multithreaded test we can see where the 6800H ends up overall. Compared to the Core i7-12700H it's 9 percent slower, which isn't an amazing result given that AMD previously used to dominate Intel in multi-thread when comparing Ryzen 7 to Core i7. With that said, the margin is relatively small, and we can see performance equivalent to the Ryzen 9 5900HX from the previous generation.

You can still standardize the testing at a fixed resolution, I guess. Or just make it a Pixel count per frame time to normalize the results. It should be somewhat fair? Like: this laptop takes x-ms to deliver y-MP on screen and that becomes a normalized measure you can use to compare. Not perfect, but it does give perspective in conjunction with the standardized test. You could give the normalization theory a go with regular setups and validate variances so they're taken into account. Hey this doesn't sound too dumb now that I think about it, heh. The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED cleary shows that AMD is the superior choice for compact laptops right now

Keep in mind that the availability of the top-specced Ryzen 7 7840U configurations is still limited in most regions, but mid-tier Ryzen 5 7640U and 7535U configurations might be more widely available. Model This section is reserved for designs based on mid-tier AMD Ryzen U platforms such as Barcelo-R and Cezanne, with Zen3 Cores and Vega graphics. Model This year it's mostly about efficiency and the new RDNA2 GPU, which are important for ultraportable notebooks, but aren't as relevant for high power gaming systems. Hopefully next year we see a more balanced overhaul that sees decent gains to all areas of performance.

You might still find these in stores, and with good discounts. Plus, given the differences between Phoenix and Rembrandt are not that significant in real-use, there’s a fair chance you’ll get excellent value for your money in this class. Model Please note that all versions of NumberPad only work with the Microsoft Windows operating system. The Refined White version is not available with NumberPad.A big novelty is the integrated GPU Radeon 680M, that is now based on the RDNA2 architecture and offers 12 CUs at up to 2.2 GHz. It should be the fastest iGPU of all at the time of announcement. You can also see that these two new chips are built on AMD’s Zen 3 Plus architecture as opposed to the Zen 3 architecture of the 5000 series. The differences between Zen 3 and Zen 3 Plus aren't substantial, so we won’t retread them (you can read about the differences in the Ryzen 6000 launch explainer), but they are worth noting. The architecture change also means that the 6000 U series comes with improved RDNA 2 graphics as opposed to the previous Radeon Vega solution. The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is an ultralight, ultrathin notebook that happens to play home to AMD's latest processors. It's a laptop that's sleek and attractive, but also powerful — as long as you're willing to put up with some heat. As mentioned already, we’re constantly working on updating these lists of Ryzen 7 6000/5000 laptops and adding new products as they are released, but errors might slip in despite our best efforts to keep things accurate. If you spot any mistake or any product that should be in here and is not, please let us know in the comments section down below. The Asus Zenbook S 13 is a very successful compact notebook that combines many modern technological features with the brand-new Ryzen 7 6800U from AMD. We did not encounter any real weak points in the review process and our positive impressions clearly outweigh the negative ones.

A reinvigorated line-up of AMD Ryzen 5000 Mobile Series processors, improving performance with the incorporation of “Zen 3” processor technology, is also available for 2022. DDR5-4800/LPDDR5-6400 RAM (incl. ECC), PCIe 4, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4A, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, BMI2, ABM, FMA, ADX, SMEP, SMAP, SMT, CPB, AES-NI, RDRAND, RDSEED, SHA, SME

These results are quite positive for the 6800U and the performance that it should be offering. We’ll start with the easy observations first. The G14 and its Ryzen 9 6900HS is obviously the mark to beat, which is no surprise for its category and components. JarredWaltonGPU said:Andrew was a bit under the gun to get the review up, but we've added some graphics tests after the fact. Unfortunately, we don't have comparable performance data from other laptops we've reviewed, as that hasn't been something deemed "important" on non-gaming laptops. We're planning to test the graphics performance of some of the other budget "non-gaming" laptops going forward, to build out our suite of results. Right now, it looks like the Radeon 680M is about 80% faster than Intel's Iris Xe 96 EU graphics solution, which is used in both Alder Lake and the older Tiger Lake. It's also a big step down from the sort of performance you'd get from even a GTX 1650 laptop solution. It is not as fast as a GTX 1650, that is to be expected. After all, this is supposed to be an APU that sustains a 15 to 28W TDP. It is really to see how much of a difference people can expect in 3D applications by moving from the aged Vega to RDNA2. The mobile GTX 1650 will require something like a H series processor to catch up due to higher power limit and also better cooling solution deployed. Besides the ability to achieve high-speed external drive performance on a non-Intel or non-Apple laptop, the most exciting capability USB4 will enable on AMD laptops is the ability to use an external GPU enclosure. To test that I grabbed an Asus XG Station Pro Thunderbolt 3 cabinet, installed an older GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in it, and plugged it in. The eGPU cabinet showed up in Windows and installed drivers from Windows Update.
