As most things you get what you pay for. If you are looking for the BEST quality screw capo then the D’addario (first option) is what i would recommend. Not only is it premium brand that specialize in acoustic based equipment. It is outstanding quality and durable being built with Aerospace Grade Aluminum. Ease-of-use – Takes two hands for altering and repositioning. Altering the screw is not the smoothest process. This can be a problem when all eyes are on you whilst on stage. This could leave you with poorly set tensions and awkward breaks during live performances

For example, one of the main reasons ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by the Beatles sounds so unique is it has a capo on the 7th fret. There are two tabs that hang off the left and right sides of the inside of the capo. I pointed them out in the image above. The use of a capo can just be as simple as transposing an open chord progression to a different key, or as complicated as revoicing a chord progression for two guitars during recording. It also offers up some interesting possibilities when using open strings, as you can use the same open chord shapes with drastically different results, giving you chords that wouldn’t be possible to fret without the capo applied. On the handling part it is a bit fiddly compared to a regular capo, but you can adjust it to fit any fingerboard width. Also, the tension on the strings can be gauged, which is good as it limits tuning issues. I don’t like these at all, but they are super cheap , so if you’re on a tight budget, it might be an option. (I’d advise you to avoid them , though.) How to use a capo: Partial capos Learning how to use a guitar capo means you can explore alternate tunings and chord voicings. This can sound amazing.

You can take the time to figure out all the different chord equivalents in the lower key (this is called ‘transposing’) and then play those different chord shapes. This can be incredibly useful. If you’re struggling to sing a song, then try playing it in a different key. If you play a C chord here (in position zero ‘0’, which is an open chord, with no capo) , then surprise, surprise, this chord will be C! This is the C chord you know and love. This was one particular tuning, but why not make a capo that does any tuning? Or use 2 capos for 2 different frets? This could be endless! The Spider Capo probably won’t be able to be fastened 100% tight, but this will ultimately depend on the guitar.

This is the main reason beginner guitarists use capos. It’s so awesome. (Watch my video later in this lesson to see examples of this in action.) Need to move your capo mid-song? No problem! Just grab the Axis and move it. The springs deal with the tensioning for you. As long as you’re careful not to bend the strings in the process, capos don’t come easier to use than this. The only disadvantage this capo has is the cost, as it is considerably more than it counter parts. However, in my opinion if you are serious about guitar then it is definitely worth every penny. Additionally, because the entire mechanism is different than the standard clamp style capo, you can actually adjust the tension placed on each string individually, which is an added bonus that can help you tweak out any buzzing that might occur. Change Tunings On The Fly

Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty A guitar capo is basically a clamp that you can apply at any point on the fretboard. You open the ‘clamp’ and move it to wherever you want it to be on the fretboard. Then you close it, and the capo presses all the strings down. Very recently though, I found myself needing to work around E minor open tuning for one of my songs to introduce more overtones on some of the chords, but I don't like to tune strings higher because of string breakage and I didn't want to detune to D minor. So I tried the Spider capo and found that I was able to combine an Eminor open string sound and revert to some of my regular chords when I wanted to as well. This has enabled me to get the best of both worlds (EADGBE and EBEGBE) for this particular song and I wouldn't have discovered this if I had not got this capo as an additional part of my kit. The G7 is fully recommended because it solves all common problems people have when using capos. In fact, it is designed specifically so you can move the capo u p and down fretswhilst playing. If you are someone that spends a lot of time using a capo, and would also like to experiment and be creative by switching tunings throughout songs then this is the perfect choice!Get Creative! – You can experiment with different tunings to create uniques sounds and textures to your music just like Andy Mkcee (above video) Unfortunately I do not have the talent to fully exploit the possibilities and for the time being it is just a novelty I sometimes mess about with. I also have the 'glove'attachments, which allow open strings to be played as harmonics, unfortunately I seem to be misplaced them, but I think that they would more in line with what I'm looking for. The Shubb capo design combined with both the speed of a trigger capo, and the precision of a screw capo… Adapt your Guitar chords with the Singer’s voice – by being able to change key effortlessly you can easily experiment to find the best key your singer can sing in. It’s not hard to do (it takes less than a second ) and is simply a case of exercising a little care. Take the time to learn how to use a capo properly!
