About this deal

The optical-, as well as the build quality of the lenses from both companies are amazing. It’s getting better and better. 7artisans makes incredibly well built lenses, of which I currently own the M-mount 75mm f/1.25 as well as the new X-mount 35mm f/0.95 (review here).

All things considered, I have been very happy with the bokeh rendering of this TTArtisan 50mm 1.4. My favorite small 50mm lens in this regard was (and still is) the Voigtlander 50mm 1.2, but the TTArtisan comes really close. Sunstars As you've seen, this new lens is as good or better photographically and ergonomically as either of the LEICA 50mm SUMMILUX it can replace functionally. While it may cost less than 10% of the cost of the LEICA, no one buys LEICA to take pictures. LEICA is a lifestyle, not a brand. Our iPhones, Canons and Nikons take much better pictures than any LEICA does. LEICAs are baubles for men who like nice things, not for people who want to take great pictures. Le Kamlan est le champion de la quantité de flou d’arrière plan avec son ouverture de F1.1 et sa distance de mise au point de 40cm The TTArtisan 50mm 2.0 shows a rather pronounced but mostly uniform pincushion distortion. Dialing in -6 in Lightroom/Photoshop will correct this sufficiently for most subjects, but some traces of distortion in the corners remain. Bokeh Sony A7rII | TTArtisan 50mm 2.0 | f/2.0This lens does not focus closely. It has no macro ability. For macro, use the LEICA SUMMICRON 50mm f/2 mit near-focussing range or the LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90mm f/4. The screw-on lens cap makes it much more time-consuming to grab the camera and take a shot. So I didn't like that.

Personally, the TTArtisan 50mm f/2 is all about a freedom feeling. It gives you the option to go super lightweight and in an unobtrusive way. It is similar to the experience you get with Fujifilm's smaller f/2 lenses. The 35mm F2 APO ASPH for Leica M-mount is constructed of 12 elements in 9 groups, including two extra-low dispersion elements and one aspherical element. It uses a 10-blade aperture diaphragm, has a minimum focusing distance of 70cm (27.6”) and uses a 52mm front filter thread. After doing more reading I see there is also a Leica L mount TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 lens. Again this is APS-C but this is I think the fastest L mount lens you can buy for you Leica CL, TL , TL2 etc. This lens will fit my Leica SL and Lumix S5 L mount cameras but see below with regards to the limitations of APS-C lenses on full frame cameras. APS-C TTArtisan 50mm f0.95Des 3 optiques, le TTArtisan est le moins lourd et de loin le moins cher. La qualité de construction est très bonne et similaire. Le TTArtisana celui avec la distance min de mise au point la plus importante. Le Kamlan est le seul ave cine bague d’ouverture sans clics (meilleur en vidéo) Unusual for an aspheric lens, and similar to the LEICA SUMMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH, bokeh (the feel, character or quality of out-of-focus areas as opposed to how far out of focus they are), is excellent. The problem is not everyone wants to calibrate their own lens. I think TTArtisan would sell more units if they offered the lens calibrated as an option (at a higher price point). If I was TTArtisan I’d team up with a third party company to calibrate a batch of their lenses and then sell on with their added price mark-up. Seems obvious to me.(If you do it please send me a cheque in the post for the idea!). TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 portrait – stopped down slightly on Leica M240 Can find models to photograph?

For less money, the B+W 49mm 010 is an excellent filter, as are the multicoated B+W and the basic multicoated Hoya filters, but the Hoya HD3 is the toughest and the best. This makes it a great allround 50mm lens that can be used for portraiture as well as landscape and infinity shooting. At half body portrait distance (roughly 1.2 to 1.5 m focus distance) the lens yields smooth blur and sharpness as well as contrast are good, exceeding my expecations. Sony A7rII | TTArtisan 50mm 1.4 | f/1.4 Leica M10 | TTArtisan 50mm 1.4 | f/1.4 Sony A7rII | TTArtisan 50mm 1.4 | f/1.4

The lens is fairly small and light compared to other 50mm f1.2 lenses. This makes me think it’s using ultra-high refractive or some type of hybrid elements mostly instead of glass. I don’t know for sure on this one.
