About this deal

Heather Burnside grew up in Gorton, a working-class area of Manchester famed as the original location for the TV series, Shameless. She moved from Gorton to a new housing development and spent her teenage years on one of the toughest estates in Manchester. What a gripping story it draws the reader in from the onset, with a young woman called Beth walking her dog alone in the woods when she hears him cry out. She carries on until she finds him bleeding, and dead from stab wounds. As for her inspiration she does not particularly have any since. Heather Burnside’s novels do not resemble the works of any of her favorite authors such as Jeffrey Deaver, Minette Walters, Val McDermid, and Nicci French. However, her work most resembles that of the likes of Mandasue Heller and Martina Cole.

The Manchester Thrillers (3 book series) Kindle edition

As always this author manages to take you on a realistic journey of high drama and fast action with no faffing around but just a well written exciting story Beth and Brady Harris, eating the most famous Mediterranean food at The Amber Room, The owner Martin Bradshaw, wealthy but most of all good looking. Laura, formally Crystal has turned around her life and is now business owner, her past catches up with her and someone is out to destruct.I loved the characters and how Heather tells the story of not only their current situation but does it in a way that made me either love them or hate them. I loved how believable the story felt as it unfolded. All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. Having just finished a book by Heather Burnside and thoroughly enjoying it, I decided to dive straight into another and what an excellent decision that was! The plot was excellent and the characters so believable.

Blackmail : A completely unputdownable gripping and gritty

Brilliant, I read this book in 1 day and couldn't put it down. Just love how you see the characters from their life before. Loved it.' NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is fast-paced, addictive and completely absorbing. I loved Beth's character and was fully invested in her story. She comes across as genuine and believable.Beth turns to Martin a Manchester gangland criminal for help, and Heather's masterly storytelling shows how rounded all people are: bad people do good things and good people do bad things. I am always enthralled with the complexities of the human psyche and non more so than the criminal mind, so really enjoyed this read. The author writes a perfect tale again of love, hate, revenge and secrets all wrapped up in ‘real’ life family drama….the characters grab you and keep you throughout the story and take you on a journey they and you will never forget

Blackmail ebook by Heather Burnside - Rakuten Kobo

She also includes events that happened in the inner suburbs of Manchester during the 1990s. These include the 1996 Manchester bombing, the plight of the homeless and the gang wars of the 90s. In the 1990s, her estate was the home base for one of the most dangerous gangs in the city. It was regularly in the press due to drug related shootings, gang crime and other undesirable happenings. Meanwhile, her livelihood is being threatened by gangs who are intimidating her and could just destroy her business. Will she be able to come out of this by beating her tormentors? This book is book 5 of the working girls series and it lived up to everything I thought it would be .A brilliantly written book with plenty of drama and tense scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Laura, as she is now known has worked hard and changed her life around until it all starts falling apart. But before she can get out of the game, she will first have to take charge of her own life which starts with revenge. In her quest, she takes something that belongs to Justin, a very dangerous man that happens to have his fingers in a lot of pies.
