The one thing that almost ruined my liking of Eva and the book to a certain extent was this attraction she has to Brett .I get that you can have an attraction to someone else while in love with another I just don’t get why she wants to be around him .I got to feeling that if Brett pushed she would cheat on Gideon and in fact my fear is that Sylvia is setting the stage for that .I get that Gideon also has the Corinne issue but he never felt a sexual buzz with her since Eva as far as we know. I think that the Brett character was important to this entire scenario because the kiss that Eva and Brett shared in the last book, was also to Gideon’s benefit in trying to sell the idea that there would be no way that a man who had only known a woman for a scant few weeks, and had been unfaithful to him, on one occasion, would kill for her. That entire premise and concept would seem ludicrous to the untrained eye. Gideon tugged my towel open. He inhaled sharply when it hit the floor and I stood before him completely naked. “Ah, Eva.”
